Unfortunately, yes.

Along with the majority, I'm a big fan of Martinez. I have to say though that it's moments like this that store up a lot of underlying resentment which can surface when things aren't going right in the future.

I personally think he's just had his Mike Walker moment that'll haunt him forever. Walker famously said a defeat to Liverpool wasn't too bad. He was battered with it when he was in trouble. And what Martinez has said is way beyond what Walker said.

It's as stupid as Neville's "top 10 is great for a club like Everton". And completely at odds with what the guy has achieved in his first season in terms of PR and good will.

Horrible comment.

There's one thing I'll say about Moyes: he'd never come out with rubbish like this Martinez is coming out with. No Everton manager would in all fairness.

Joe Royle: no chance.
Colin Harvey: no chance.
Howard Kendall: no chance.

..and if Duncan Ferguson ever became Everton manager he'd cripple anyone trying to suggest it.

It's a big mistake made by Martinez. Just look after your own concerns. There is nothing to be gained by siding with a local rival over football and everything to lose. He's stored up trouble for himself here for the future.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on today's quote, he's built up a lot of good will for us this season, I'm sure you will too mate.

Yes, he can. He can say he's going out to win and leave it at that.

This really. The Echo today was saying something along the lines of "Martinez: We will do our best to help neighbours". Something like that anyway.

Really done my head in. If we are going to win today then it needs to be for our sake, not doing it for them. We should never be helping them, they're f****ng vermin.

Lets be honest here - he's big mates with Rodgers with the Swansea connection. He wants Liverpool to win the league, make no mistake. He might aswell just said 'we'll never win the league, so it'll be special if our neighbours do and we can help them to share their glory'

I can't wait for this game to be played and be over with.

Going to bed now, not even setting an alarm for this one, too emotionally torn. Either result has positive and negative connotations.

Knowing us it'll be a 0-0 draw anyway and do nobody a favour!!!

I will. He's done fantastic. However, a little bit of respect has gone for him and I doubt I'll be throwing myself into the fray opposing any criticism of him in the future as keenly as I have done.

These things dont seem too bad for many right now, but when the brown stuff hits the fan in future over performances and results you can bet your bottom dollar it'll be used to undermine him.

Sophisticated wind up.

*sigh*

Well if he doesn't get it (us versus them), he surely will if they win the league and the crowing and put downs he will have to endure afterwards. Hopefully he'll learn.

Oh, just in case it's been forgotten, Crystal Palace/Liverpool is refereed by Clattenburg. So anyone hoping we could beat City and Palace can pull off the upset later as an ideal scenario may as well leave that fantasy at the door.
This. It really is all down to today's gsme.
