Everton in crisis? - Daily Mail Article

That's interesting. (I'd seen PSL (Personal Seat Licence) from the States and it was controversial, to say the least, but this is different.) The worry, I would think, is that you are effectively mortgaging some of your season ticket revenue but if you can use the money to get improvements above and beyond (e.g. build more revenue-enhancing features) then I could see it working.

I also think they could do far more with the idea of 'enhanced membership' for non-local fans where you could pay a yearly fee (maybe at different levels) and you would receive stuff that wouldn't cost them the earth (choice of match ticket, even ticket+hotel package, annual Finch Farm visit (see idea of fan days at American football training camps), plus signed shirt, signed derby programme, regular deals on merchandise, etc.) but which would mean something to the buyer.

They could do a lot of things if they were interested, but it seems they're not.

yeah cuz its not like villa to go sign a £20m striker is it!!!

Not at all mate, in fact your bang on the money here, spending money on Darren Bent is a clear indication that Villa are inded a powerfull financial force to be reckoned with.

Dont even get me started on Nzogbia.

* Shakes head.

The difference between Aston Villa and Everton is that if Villa feel the need to buy a player, they do so.

The only reason we're a better side than them is David Moyes, not because of our financial situation.

Yes, but the securitization deal with Bears Stearns (passed onto the Prudential) was on the basis of a club with 'predictable and sustainable cashflows' from attendance. They dont own the club's future revenue from that stream, they just have their loan anchored to it.

Obviously the Pru would need to give the go ahead for any new venture on ESR, as they have a vested interest (as we saw with the annexe, apparently).

But it is used as collateral on the loan, wasnt that the alleged prob with the annexe, that still hasnt been confirmed btw.

I agree mate, i wish we were run like Villa they are mundo boss, i de-heart Milner, Barry, Downing, Young, but do heart Bent, Nzogbia and the cameroonian chap they signed - i dont really hes badly gash.

1449: FOOTBALL - Manager Alex McLeish says it is unlikely Aston Villa will add any new faces before the start of the season. "You can never say never but at the moment if we get N'Zogbia, which is looking good, then it's unlikely we will do anything unless there's more trading with the players we already have in the squad," he told the Press Association.

That's after them making plenty of money selling their best players mate.

If Everton go out of business they have zero gate money to give anyone.

They (the Pru) will be arsed about one thing and one thing alone: what secures the payback of their principle + interest. If they saw Everton's finances in bad shape and thought (given the new facility led attempts at improving income have crashed and burned) that ESR at GP was a good way forward to protect their loan they'd give it their blessing.

There is something mildly satisfying, when you spend your load on arguements and resort to insults.

TBF i think you started to early this year mate, we're just barely touching Aug and you may as well be Foreman in the Congo.

I cant make it any clearer for you mate, i think you look need to look at the account, if you think moneyis being symponed of somewhere it isnt - the money goes on paying the players, i donthow it can be any clearer, its reinvested back into the squad on theback of their success. Have you looked at the books mate, where the discepencey?

If thats the case mate, 17 clubs (possibly more) will all be looseing their best players as their are only three trophies domesticly that can be one. Those three teams wont buy every player in the league. Lets be honest money talks money talks when it comes to players and ambition is second - i dont llike to generalise - but in the main. So that the colundrum you pay to keep your best players, but its up all your liquidity, at the same time to you know you have resale value if they are on a longer contract, thats not symptomatic of Everton or how we are managed, but every club in the world - Ronaldo/Fabergas blah blah blah - its part of the game really

That's the point.

Never said they're are holding money...the problem is they've never pushed the club further to make more money on the back of relative success compared to how much they've spent on the pitch.

That's where the frustration lies. They can use the old "85p of every £1 goes into Everton FC" and that's fine. But how comes its not "85p of every £2 goes into Everton FC, the £1.15 left goes into the transfer fund"?

Moyes has given the club the opportunities to do that but rather than take the ball and run with it, they've juuuust done enough to keep the machine oiled.

Unless... no sponsor wants to give us a better deal. No one wants our merchandise. No one wants to play for us. And bottom line...no one wants to invest or buy us.

I just dont believe the board have done enough to go beyond what they can scrap together and have no other way of making more revenue than they are.

And the players issue is a massive merrigoround. You dont want to sell...but sometimes there's no other choice no matter what contract they're on.

I think you misread that quote to be honest mate, they said every 85p in the pound goes toward playing staff. Can this be disproven?

To be honest the second part of your post i highlighted, wouldnt be to far from the turth to be honest.
