I mean, you'd assume a deal to get rid of Digne would've already been agreed I'd we've signed his replacement.
If Digne doesn't leave then we've spunked the January money on a back up to a position where we're already strong.
It's baffling to me who else people think we can sell in a winter window to improve the squad, which I'm sure every one is thinks we absolutely need to do.I agree 100% - we need to improve our transfer dealings both buying and selling. We can’t keep hold of lads past their sell by date as we need that cash to re-invest. Must admit I’m not that bothered selling digne provided his replacement can cut the mustard. He’s flattered to deceive since his first season and I agree with him in that he’s better suited to a possession type team which we’re clearly not at the minute.
Ivanovic (lokomotiv Moscow - chelsea)
Vidic (spartak Moscow - Manchester United)
Skrtel (zenit- liverpool)
Kanchelskis (shaktar - Manchester United)
Modric (dinamo Zagreb - spurs)
Theirs a few of the better known ones mate.
Because he has no sale value.

Our results don't tend to dip to any noticeable degree when Ben Godfrey, a right footed centre back, comes into the team to replace Digne. That tells me that Digne is entirely replaceable, and if we can get £20+ million for him we'd be fools to turn that down when there's very, very few others in our team that we can actually sell for good money.
I like Digne but he's been phoning it in for more than 12 months and as he's pushing 30 so he's only going to go one way. It would be good for him as well to maybe go to a side who will compete for trophies for a couple of years whilst we rebuild the side with younger players.
I think this will be a good move for all parties.
not at all. Digne has been poor defensively since Silvas first season. He currently has some value and would work well in a top side that can cover his vulnerabilities at the back but benefit from his attacking capabilities. It's definitely the Digne money. But we've basically bought a new car to replace a perfectly good car...just because we didn't like the colour

I agree but at least with Benitez taking control it’s wholly on him - he mucks up in the transfer market he’s gone.I think the majority would go along with this, not just with Digne but any player. The only problem is that replacements haven`t been good enough for the Championship let alone replacing our best players...
Can't really blame Benitez for that. We need to be a club that buys players at 21 and sells them at 28.Wasn't on about selling him. The post previous was stating it's good we're replacing stagnant players.
Yet Coleman hasn't been replaced for years
sorry but this is nonsense. You acknowledge you've no idea how good he is, but are against the swap on general principle.I've no issues with how good he is as a player..could be Roberto Carlos regen for all we know.
It's just, like you say, and completely unnecessary purchase due to an issue Benitez created.

If selling Digne for £25-30 millions allows us the FFP wiggle room to bring 2-3 in January its a no brainer.
Blokes 28 and been off form for a while.
The Red Echo reckons we want a RB & CM in January alongside this Ukranian lad.
Good business IF the players signed do the business.
