So Longstaff coming in on 50k a week and fit to play most games when needed is somehow worse than Delph being fit for 2 games a season being paid circa 70k a week to sit in the physios room 50 weeks out the year?

You're talking nonsense im afraid chap.

Any port in a storm to have a pop at the manager/whoever he signs.
He answered your point which claimed we have fans expecting the club to spend 100m, which simply isn’t true.
Show us posts where a number of fans have made this suggestion.

The reality is you can’t. You have actually made that up to make another needless post, because let’s be honest, you post that much guff that you can’t actually keep on top of the bile you are posting.

I don’t think £14m is cheap for an SPL sale myself. It’s higher than VVD went for.
If the Patterson deal goes through it will be absolutely nowhere near £14m.

Van Dijk left Celtic when it was still hard to get money for Scottish players from down south. The only only who had a big transfer and was a success before him was Wanyama. Just this summer Ajer left Celtic for £15m with a year on his deal and Edouard left for £17m with a year on his. Ryan Christie even went to Bournemouth for close to £3m with 6 months left.

If Patterson was even close to the likes of Tierney or Robertson at a similar age why would Rangers accept so little for a homegrown player on a long contract? And why wouldn’t he get some decent gametime?

This isn’t a case of a player unhappy at not being first choice. This is a player who’s barely used at all… and when he is used it’s primarily as part of a front 3 when the games are dead.

‘£14m’ would be mental even if we had a first choice RB who was flying and could spent whatever we wanted on a punt for a young RB. To spend that sort of money when we need someone ready to walk in and simply can’t get it wrong because of FFP is bordering on vandalism.

I don’t even think Ramsay would be guaranteed to hit the ground running and tear [Poor language removed] up as soon as he joined. Potential wise though it’s night and day.

Ramsay would’ve been guaranteed to be in the team of the year if he didn’t have that injury, even if he leaves in January. And that’s with Tony Ralston having an outstanding season at Celtic.

I predict that if Patterson ends up at Everton then he’ll be back to Scottish football within a few years or we’re loaning him to the Championship until his deal is done.

Well all of your speculation is just that. Someone who claims to be close to the deal said £14m so I'll go with that for now and that is not cheap for an SPL sale.

Coutinho & Barkley !!!

One is finished
The other never got started

The very worst of signings.
I don't want either personally I have expressed my preference for players who can develop with us, but on a short term loan what are our other options unless we sell? It doesn't appear we have the budget to buy two full backs and a creative option. We do need some creativity at ten.

The post was that it was meant to be £14mil after all clauses were triggered i think.

Mate of mine whose a Rangers fan says that if it wasnt for their captain being right back and being somewhat of an 'icon' Patterson would walk into the team. Any other position with the quality he has, he starts apparently

Tells me he thinks Patterson will go into the premier league and develop into a top player over the next 10 seasons...

Well thats no basis to judge wether the lad will progress or not.
If the scouting has been done they will have known about him for quite a while.

Of course he could bomb out in the Prem, like many even seasoned pro's have done. But he has bags of time on his hands to progress here.
I think he's got every chance to do well for us from what i've seen of him.
Like I said, it's less about the 'would he be a good signing for us' (I think he would be) and more the 'is he going to come in and be the starting RB right away'

Now, we'd probably all like the answer to the second question to be yes but it probably isn't going to be the case. My point was, I've seen some acting like it is. Some saying 'we absolutely have to get Patterson in as a priority'

It will probably be a case of Coleman starting the majority of matches for the rest of the season tbh, which is fine, it's just about expectations on the lad

Right I'll try this from a different angle because you just aren't getting the arguement.

Your saying longstaff is to come in and play when needed over gbamin/Delph? So you want us to pay a multi million pound contract to replace players who have started what about 10 games between them in 2.5 years? Despite us having the worst injury problems I've ever seen at us? You realise we have been stuck with Delph and gbamin for this amount of time because they are on contracts no one in world football would even consider paying but us, yet you want to sign an equally bad ( if not worse ) player on the same sort of contract?

Up there with wanting us to get relegated these shouts.

I can see both sides.
I’ve always said, while he certainly wouldn’t be an exciting signing. On a free and maybe a 3yr deal, and coming in as 4th choice, wouidnt be the end of the world, especially if that gives us more money to go and buy a top class first choice midfielder, which is needed.

A number of things would need to happen for this to be even considered. Like selling Davies & Gomes and loaning Gbamin. I certainly wouldn’t be spending a penny to buy him in January.

Haha class reading these again, good work !!!
Advanced talks for Countinho was a classic, 25Mil for James hahaha
And at the end of the window he was adamant we were bidding for Koulibaly while it was clear we could not spend due to FFP. @Theoneandonly the GOT comedian lol

Except we are still in talks with Coutinho.

In the summer we had no money to spend. That's why no big deals happened and we were scraping the barrel.

There really isnt much logic in signing Coutinho.

I think hes on £380k pre tax a week or something totally insane.

If he came on loan until season end and we paid under £100k a week with no loan fee then it may be worth a punt.

Any fee for a loan...and any type of permanent deal would be bizarre.

The smart move would be to go and get someone like Rasmussen Kristensen from Salzburg to come in immediately and be first choice. £10m.

And then some like a Ramsay who you could probably get for £4m and loan back to Aberdeen until the end of the season. Ramsay being 18 would mean he’d count as a homegrown player in a few years as well.

And talking of Rangers players I’m surprised we aren’t linked with Leon King…

Thing with both the fb is to get then in now With them having the rest of the season To work way into the side. Then by next season hopefully both will be in the starting lineup. Still feel we could do with a cm and another wide player. Will just have to wait to see what we do
