Right I'll try this from a different angle because you just aren't getting the arguement.

Your saying longstaff is to come in and play when needed over gbamin/Delph? So you want us to pay a multi million pound contract to replace players who have started what about 10 games between them in 2.5 years? Despite us having the worst injury problems I've ever seen at us? You realise we have been stuck with Delph and gbamin for this amount of time because they are on contracts no one in world football would even consider paying but us, yet you want to sign an equally bad ( if not worse ) player on the same sort of contract?

Up there with wanting us to get relegated these shouts.

Your solution to our FFP problems is essentially sell/release half the squad and replace them with yoof from the under 23's on apprentice wages.

That might work on FIFA but its not how a Premier League club operates.

If Delph/Siggurdsson leaves end of the season then at least one of them will be replaced - if we haven't the funds for a quality CM then it will be a cheap player like Longstaff not promoting some 16 year old from the academy just to keep the arl dar's happy from wetting the sheets.

He answered your point which claimed we have fans expecting the club to spend 100m, which simply isn’t true.
Show us posts where a number of fans have made this suggestion.

The reality is you can’t. You have actually made that up to make another needless post, because let’s be honest, you post that much guff that you can’t actually keep on top of the bile you are posting.

Thats a lot of typed words when you can just say the lad was wrong.

The post was that it was meant to be £14mil after all clauses were triggered i think.

Mate of mine whose a Rangers fan says that if it wasnt for their captain being right back and being somewhat of an 'icon' Patterson would walk into the team. Any other position with the quality he has, he starts apparently

Tells me he thinks Patterson will go into the premier league and develop into a top player over the next 10 seasons...
Tavernier is the captain but their fans don’t even think he’s a captain… he’s constantly called to be replaced and is a joke figure in Scottish football. Even if it was simply about Tavernier being the captain why would Patterson struggle for any minutes at all? Even last season when Tavernier was injured Gerrard played Balogun, a failed CB, at RB ahead of him when the league was done.

Again if this was all true about Patterson why can’t he get a game ahead of James Tavernier? Patterson wasn’t even trusted to played RB in the Scotland u21’s. He was played right midfield while a CB turned CM played RB ahead of him.

People automatically think young Scottish fullback now and go straight to Tierney and Robertson but people need to realise Scotland’s only RB for years has been Stephen O’Donnell… a guy who failed at Luton. We’d tried everything from Kieran Tierney to James Forrest to [Poor language removed] Ryan Fraser there just to not play O’Donnell there. It’s comparing apples to oranges.

People can think he’s talented, I do, but the idea he’s better than Robertson was at the same age or that he’s close to Tierney is genuinely some of the most ridiculous football related opinions you’ll hear.

Why did rangers turn down 8 mil for him if he’s bang average?

….why does a quality player have to be expensive?

Cheap doesn’t have to mean sub-standard. I expect progressive and innovative signings if the budget is low. It doesn’t mean we have to buy players we know aren’t good enough.

That could result in us being relegated.

There really isnt much logic in signing Coutinho.

I think hes on £380k pre tax a week or something totally insane.

If he came on loan until season end and we paid under £100k a week with no loan fee then it may be worth a punt.

Any fee for a loan...and any type of permanent deal would be bizarre.

To be fair, Coutinho in form with Richarlison and Gray is a pretty salivating prospect.

Isn't Coutinho's agent also good friends with Moshiri.

It doesn't always but lets be honest 9/10 it does hence why clubs that spend lots of money like Man City, PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool etc often win shiny things whilst Shrewsbury and Northampton Town dont!

That’s if you actually believe the £8m bid.

The only talk of any bid from within Rangers, who publicly try and get bidding wars for their players all the time, came from Gerrard who in a post match presser with fan media. And even then that was them asking him about the bid, he actually said he hadn’t heard anything about it and even asked how much the bid was supposed to be. The price mentioned was £5m.

Scottish players from the smaller clubs have had bids/interest at similar prices for poorer players. No surprise they think they could probably get more with the money in England.

No fullback in Scottish football just now is costing £14m or anything close to it. That’s even with fullbacks being a premium down south. And Scottish fullbacks to a lesser extent.

When exactly has this been the case in the last several years?

coutinho’s agent being friends with Moshiri is the only reason this debacle is being considered. Agent trying to flog him off on anyone foolish enough to waste the money…..that is where the Mosh comes in.

The club simply can’t afford to make this kind of signing (and I don’t mean for the books, I mean for the future well being of the club and the performance on the pitch).

Coutinho of ~8 years ago was a very good footballer. Coutinho of today is an injury plagued has been - we don’t need those

What team do you support?

Like I said, it's less about the 'would he be a good signing for us' (I think he would be) and more the 'is he going to come in and be the starting RB right away'

Now, we'd probably all like the answer to the second question to be yes but it probably isn't going to be the case. My point was, I've seen some acting like it is. Some saying 'we absolutely have to get Patterson in as a priority'

It will probably be a case of Coleman starting the majority of matches for the rest of the season tbh, which is fine, it's just about expectations on the lad
Pretty obvious Seamus aint going anywhere , so to sign Patterson and rotate the RB position is the way it should be done.
I dont buy it that a player isnt good enough if they havent played in the Prem , Livramento hadnt played a minute for Chelsea but hasnt missed a game for Southampton.

As long as the scouting & homework has been done properly and of course the price is right this is a good move for us. ....if indeed it does happen.

The club has to learn from the past.

Stop signing players who are on their way down and on astronomical wages and get young players on their way up.

Do similar to what Southampton done under Pochettino and focus on younger talents excelling in smaller leagues for teams playing in Europe.

There’s far too much talent out there to focus on players who are done at the bigger clubs.
