Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

Were we relegation threatened? I've continually said the squad is dross if you've followed my posts. I just don't believe it's bottom of the table quality.
It's not terrible I genuinely believe a good manager has us with four more wins and more draws regardless of injuries. Carlo had injuries but he adapted to get results Benitez seemingly cares more about his ego than making adjustments to get results. He made a substitution on seventy minutes yesterday. Seventy minutes.

I had no idea Kovac was unemployed. I agree with you, I'd have him in for an interview tomorrow. Excellent candidate.
Agreed, if we could somehow get him and make the compensation work. I don't know that he's up for a relegation scrap, though. I wouldn't be, if I had that CV.

Lampard wasn't a ton worse at Chelsea than what Tuchel is doing now. There are worse ideas.
?

43 from 21 this season is hugely ahead of Lampard's 29 from 19 when he got the sack. Chelsea earned a similar 2ish per game under Tuchel last season. They're scoring more than they did under Tuchel last season, and are almost as stingy.

That's not a good enough points return when you're talking winning the league, but that makes sense. Tuchel is a second-echelon elite European manager. He's good enough to lift major silverware. He's not good enough to beat Pep over 38 without possessing a substantially better squad than Pep has.

It was a power struggle or something along those lines with their sporting director. Great for us, we don't have one. Hand it over, let him get to work.

Kovac is the type of manager we’d want after Benitez. Would be an absolute waste giving him this squad. They’d have him under a bus within 12 months as they completely failed to implement any aspect of his philosophy. I want Benitez to scorch the earth here (which he’s doing in fairness) and give the next manager some fertile ground to work with. If the next manager walks into the changing room and is welcomed by Coleman and Keane then this has all been for nothing and manager number 6 will swiftly become manager number 7.

Coleman, Keane, Kenny, Holgate, Digne, Davies, Delph, Iwobi, Siggurdson Tosun out the door as soon as possible. I don’t want this lot bringing another manager down.

Apparently Carlo was looking at Vitaliy and we have been looking at Patterson a while , long before Rafael

Yeah I read that too , Brands earmarked them

I don’t know about anyone else, but this doesn’t comfort me, it alarms me.

Where is the instruction to follow through with these signings coming from? If it’s not Benitez picking the players, then who is now Brands has gone?

Is Farhad (‘I personally scouted Cenk Tosun’) Moshiri playing Football Manager?

More like they were agreed deals we would persue months ago and then as results went south Brands had a bust up with the board and manager about direction of the club/team.

Deals aren’t signed until they are signed.

I don’t buy that inertia got these over the line. It’s too much money in our present state for that.

You would imagine that Benitez would want control over transfers. The present narrative is that he’s a control freak who wants to rule the football side of the business in totality.

Something doesn’t fit right here - and I suspect it’s that Moshiri is continuing to be the shadow DoF he was during Brands and Walsh’s tenures.

Probably mate he doesn't stop meddling but I would be surprised if the two full backs weren't scouted and recommended by Brands and his team. Alot of work goes into most transfers in terms of scouting and negotiation.
