Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

Wasn't saying we aren't worse this year, just that we need to stop being so rosy about Carlo
I'm not rosy he had his issues too especially at home and in terms of attacking patterns but it's also hard to fully judge because it was a behind closed doors season. Likelihood is we wouldn't have won as many away and won more at home with fans. He would have us easily mid table now I tell you that.

So many issues we need a dominant centre back, a mobile midfielder to play as a dm and a creative presence. I can't see us getting all three possibly rely on Branthwaite and Mina actually getting fit and get a midfielder on loan if we can only do one more loan. If we can loan two midfielder and dominant CB.

Rafael isn’t going anywhere, he’s being backed in the market with two new fullbacks and they’ll be others.
No mate, Benitez is being sacked after the derby / the Palace game / the Brighton game and these players were bought by Brands and Ancelotti...and probably Silva. The clever people have told us.

He's still manager and they're still mithering themselves with his downfall - as the owner backs him to the hilt and hands him the keys to every door in the club.

Yeah exactly. I feel like there is this sentiment that we fell away and were unlucky to miss Europe and no not for me.

I mean, on the face of it, two young full backs are good purchases.

But they're gonna need help, leadership and direction. They currently have Keane and Holgate as senior centre halves. Godfrey is still a baby.

A monumental decision imho to get these two with no senior leaders and no I don't consider Seamus in that.

Too much potential and not enough experience.

We could have done with a signing like Lucas Neill - cheap but bags of experience and a sell on fee.

True on the face of it, but if these are two of four it makes more sense. Makes me wonder if we will utilise all of our loan options for a centre back and midfielder with experience and also sell a few such as Holgate. Also telling these two are in early, is that deliberate to be able to shift a few to get a few loans in later in the window? Maybe I'm being optimistic on how many we will bring in but Benitez is a very safety first manager I can see him bringing in a few older heads

Tell me Dave...what do you like about Benitez besides the fact that he's won less games than people he's got out?

He's experienced and will see this mini-crisis out and we'll be in better shape as an organisation once we get this season out of the way.

If he takes us into the bottom three though he'll have to go. THAT is the only circumstance I'd let him go in.
