Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Beto gets injured in a pointless cup fixture and the natives will be restless.

We’re such an unprofessional outfit. Gambling on a poor forward in Beto scoring whilst two sick notes are months away from playing at best.

This is on thelwell. Planning will have started months ago and here we are.

One out the door, two injuries, one for the season and he brings in one.

Absolutely moron

When you have as much work to do as we have, then you get started in June. Has to be some deals wrapped up by then, we can't be going into July with nothing done.

Have no problem with loans and frees to pad the numbers, the options off the bench are critical to any hope of competitiveness.

I don't accept at all that no options were available in this window with the squad as painfully thin as it is. But that's gone now.

Spending money in Jan usually means panic buys and paying over the odds for players with spray on hair. The last 3 results puts us in a position where we can afford to wait until the summer for a proper rebuild.
Lose any of garner , myko, gana, ndiaye and Beto in the next month and we are looking over our shoulders a bit. Two bad weekends of results and our 9 points could be 3 with a hellish April to come

Don’t get me wrong, we should be fine but it is a huge gamble not getting a striker and other cover in on loan at least

Where's that quote from the Echo saying that those at Everton were happy with the work done in the window even though no players had been signed?
Wonder what their current thoughts are?

Here you go mate mate. I posted it last Tuesday, last Thursday and yesterday because it was so laughably bad, 100% it was always going to end up making us look stupid

"Despite that challenge, heading into the weekend there was cause for positivity around the work the Blues had done in the transfer window. While no incomings had been secured, there was a sense the groundwork had been done and that the club was in a good position to act on that in the closing stages of the window"

Giving themselves all a pat on the back for not actually doing anything except get a loan in. Someone told the Echo to take that bullishness to print and don't they all look stupid (once again) for it being printed.

What if Isak gets injured?. What if Watkins gets injured?. What if Havertz gets injured?. That’s 3 teams challenging for top 4 that haven’t got any other fit striker and they didn’t even replace. Strikers are very hard to come by, and even more so in a January window. We already have 4 strikers on the books, we Have just been unlucky. If Beto gets injured then Ndiaye would just have to play there. I’d rather wait till the summer for Broja to leave, and DCL to leave and then we try and get a decent striker than blow money now on some bang average forward than another team is willing to let go off mid season.

Still disagree. Imo, we will be stronger in the 2nd half of the season to the 1st. But I respect your opinion mate. No probs at all.

Mangala is a loss, but Garner/Tim are decent. If Gana stays fit especially.

Dom/Broja are not reliable sources of goals, especially in the predicament were in. Beto somehow will add a few more goals than Dom would imo and Chemitti will be back soon. Perhaps Broja sooner than we thought. With other players back, Moyes looks like he would like an almost false 9 with an Ndiaye or one of the more attack minded players.

The vast majority of our fans havent been happy with Doucs overall this season. Perhaps Alcaraz will fit into that role, slightly advanced of a Gana-Garner mid. Thats looks good to me. Time will tell, but I reckon fans will take to Alcaraz with his workrate, ability and hunger. Take a half decent set-piece too. Looks like a good strengthening in a good key position to me.

But perhaps the biggest strengthening, and the most important member of the “team” is having Moyes in the second half of the season and not Dyche. It was Dycheball that was taking us down, not the players.

We will be fine under Moyes, and we will be in a MUCH better place in the next window - financially and physically, in our amazing new stadium.

Keep the faith mate.

I was one of the first to comment when we were linked with Alcaraz on Friday as I remember him from Southampton and had actually forgotten about him, so it was a nice surprise to hear he was joining Everton.

He certainly strengthens that area, but I just think we are a bit weaker up top.

Let’s hope Beto stays fit 👍

Also 100% not in disagreement with you on the managers position.

Our problem is we are going to need a lot more than that next summer
We aren’t though. There are 13 contracts expiring, leaving us with 12. We have no need to sell either.

We extend gana, probably Begovic, and look to keep lindstrom and Alcaraz possibly.

Thats 9 leaving. One of which is broja who has not offered us anything, even on the bench in the grand scheme of things.

5/6 permanents. 3/4 loans.

Evertonians absolutely thrive off misery.

Watched us financially hammer ourselves for years, spend huge wages, millions on rubbish, points deductions in one season & 5 minutes later convinced themselves we’d be spending money in a month where it’s mostly clubs castoffs on the move.

Nobody is selling their best centre forwards in January, certainly not on the cheap. There wasn’t a chance we were signing a 5th one for the sake of it, especially when we’ll need to replace atleast 2 in the summer.
