Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

If I offered you, Dyche to be sacked, 3 back to back wins 8 points away from the bottom 3 with a game in hand at the start of January, you would bite my hand off.

The fact we have lost Broja, DCL and Mangala to injury but have Tim, Garner and added an attacking midfielder in Alcatraz.

I was convinced the recent results and uncertainty over Thelwell, led the club to re-think their January plans.

I hope the Director of Football and CEO is sorted this month so we can capitalise on the Bosman market and add some key parts to the summer quickly then sort a decent pre-season tour before moving into Bramley Moore.

What if Isak gets injured?. What if Watkins gets injured?. What if Havertz gets injured?. That’s 3 teams challenging for top 4 that haven’t got any other fit striker and they didn’t even replace. Strikers are very hard to come by, and even more so in a January window. We already have 4 strikers on the books, we Have just been unlucky. If Beto gets injured then Ndiaye would just have to play there. I’d rather wait till the summer for Broja to leave, and DCL to leave and then we try and get a decent striker than blow money now on some bang average forward than another team is willing to let go off mid season.
They have Isak, Watkins and Havertz - we have.....Beto

A simple loan would have helped - surely

9 points clear. 10 if you add goal difference into it.

Beto gets injured in a pointless cup fixture and the natives will be restless.

We’re such an unprofessional outfit. Gambling on a poor forward in Beto scoring whilst two sick notes are months away from playing at best.

This is on thelwell. Planning will have started months ago and here we are.

One out the door, two injuries, one for the season and he brings in one.

Absolutely moron
If your options were Straq, Tosun, Maupay or no-one, who would you have plumped for then?

I get this. But if the answer to any of the above questions was ‘Jack Harrison will have to come into the team’ then you can bet they would have signed someone.

The stakes are higher at the bottom too.

I don't know how many, if any of TFG people have expertise in recognising levels of footballers talent, but you're assuming that they'll involve themselves in decisions about who we buy, and make bad choices, Moshiri like. Have they done it at Roma?
They hold the purse strings at both clubs.

I must be in a very small minority to be made up with this transfer window. For once, the club haven't splurged a fortune on utter dross to paper over the cracks, committing them to long, hefty contracts. With several of these types of player being out of contract in the summer, that is the time to judge the new owners strategy and ambition. With the breathing space we now have in the table, I'm sure we'll be fine this season, with a steady hand at the helm.
