Looks to me like the powers that be at the club are quite content that David Moyes can win a gun fight with a knife, now they want to see if he can win a gun fight with a spoon.
Correct positionWhat if Isak gets injured?. What if Watkins gets injured?. What if Havertz gets injured?. That’s 3 teams challenging for top 4 that haven’t got any other fit striker and they didn’t even replace. Strikers are very hard to come by, and even more so in a January window. We already have 4 strikers on the books, we Have just been unlucky. If Beto gets injured then Ndiaye would just have to play there. I’d rather wait till the summer for Broja to leave, and DCL to leave and then we try and get a decent striker than blow money now on some bang average forward than another team is willing to let go off mid season.
In the summer it would be a good idea!Spending £50m on 3 championship players that would off offered nothing more than what we have now would have been a very stupid thing to do.
Yes, nobody has said they should have been brought in during this transfer window. None of them were available in any case.Spending £50m on 3 championship players that would off offered nothing more than what we have now would have been a very stupid thing to do.
A loan though, give we have 1 very average striker for the next month or so - it is just common sense really.Evertonians absolutely thrive off misery.
Watched us financially hammer ourselves for years, spend huge wages, millions on rubbish, points deductions in one season & 5 minutes later convinced themselves we’d be spending money in a month where it’s mostly clubs castoffs on the move.
Nobody is selling their best centre forwards in January, certainly not on the cheap. There wasn’t a chance we were signing a 5th one for the sake of it, especially when we’ll need to replace atleast 2 in the summer.
A scouting team and a board member that negotiates contracts, working separately, is a Director of Football?"Ive got a great idea lads, Get rid of the Director of football and replace them with a.... Director of football!!"
Yeah I don’t think he wants to mess around bringing in dross that won’t improve the team. I’m sure he wanted a striker or whatever but seems to have decided the options presented to him were not good enough.Moyes himself said we can’t afford the players he wants due to PSR
I’m happy enough with Moyes , this upturn in form and Alcaraz but there seems zero middle ground . Either we are doomed to immediate failure or the other option was buying hugely overpriced crap players who couldn’t possibly have improved us. Maybe there is some kind of middle ground .Yes, nobody has said they should have been brought in during this transfer window. None of them were available in any case.
He also said multiple times that he wanted multiple players. PSR was an issue of course, but I'm not sure he was using it as an excuse not to be active.Moyes himself said we can’t afford the players he wants due to PSR
Brilliant. What if Isak gets injured?. What if Watkins gets injured?. What if Havertz gets injured?. Yes that's the one, thanks for reposting. Here you go mate mate. I posted it last Tuesday, last Thursday and yesterday because it was so laughably bad, 100% it was always going to end up making us look stupid
"Despite that challenge, heading into the weekend there was cause for positivity around the work the Blues had done in the transfer window. While no incomings had been secured, there was a sense the groundwork had been done and that the club was in a good position to act on that in the closing stages of the window"
Giving themselves all a pat on the back for not actually doing anything except get a loan in. Someone told the Echo to take that bullishness to print and don't they all look stupid (once again) for it being printed.
Yes that's the one, thanks for reposting.
This is the attitude that needs removing from the club, not only is mediocrity accepted it's actively celebrated. I hope the Friedkins have taken note and we see big changes ahead of the massive summer ahead.
