Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

  • The most laughable thing from yesterday: the club 'teasing' the fans over the "will they/wont they sign" the ex-Southampton player with 11 goals in his whole career.
  • The most laughable thing today: Evertonians who are congratulating the club for getting 1 transfer done in a window where everyone was agreed we needed at least 2/3 in...even before we lost Mangala and DCL and Broja.

Any of these years do you plan on fact checking your posts before hitting send?

In his last press conference David Moyes basically told us what was going to happen, but people chose to ignore him, myself included.

He warned that PSR was still an issue, that we had very limited headroom and that in the summer things would be different.

I think the last three wins has also removed the absolute need to get in more players as the current squad have shown they can get results from difficult games.

I think David Moyes will want to keep Broja next season, Lindstrom and probably Alcaraz as well.
Armstrong will probably be back in the squad.

I think DCL and Keane will leave , Young and Coleman will finish as players.

We have to build a new squad for next season , we have to try to get Branthwaite to extend his contract, we have to see what Beto is like given a run of games.

I think if KT is to be sacked it will happen shortly or not at all. If he is not going to be involved for the future planning then get his replacement in immediately and let him start planning for the summer now.

However, I would not be surprised at all to see KT sign a contract extension. I sort of hope he does just to watch the fume on here.

In fairness though, a lot of that is not necessarily the squad, but more Dyche picking very old players like Young. Like if he would have picked O'Brien over Young I'd imagine that age goes down a lot.

The age of the squad massively reduces with the contract expiries we have this summer.

Coleman (36), Young (39), Doucoure (32), DCL (27), Keane (32), Gueye (35), Begovic (37), Harrison (28).

Discounting Gueye that's 7 players leaving with an average age of 33yo.

Currently we are at 27.8 after those 7 leave it comes down to 25.8 average age. Replace those 7 with an average age of 23 we drop down to 25.0.

Wonder was there any truth in the Fellows bid - £15 mill.

Seemed a weirdly timed one, given we had a month to bid and how far down our list he must have been to bid at that late stage.

I wonder is he someone we could go back for.

People who think PSR won’t be used as an excuse in the summer deserve the vaulting they get.

I’ve lost track of how many PSR false dawns fans have convinced themselves of! Every year it has been the same “just need certain players off the books” “just need certain years to drop off the PSR”

It’s all nonsense and always has been.

And bedded in.

The whole situation still feels like short termism is in charge.

It doesn't feel like any permanent roots are being planted either on the ownership or management side of the club.

You didn’t care about this in early January.

Social media.

The people who matter in this situation are the owners.

I dont think they'll let it slide beyond January if we're not getting wins, but I dont believe they'll get shut of Dyche before then.

Look at the table. Look at the remarkable lack of losses since September. That's what TFG are looking at and hoping they dont have to ignore and sack Dyche.

But they need to do their part to stop that happening; they need to spend on players.

“Look at the table”

🙃

Think a time whose team stays down this season their outstanding younger players we will be looking at.

Weird how some people* would counsel patience when it comes to the continued employment of an utterly hopeless football manager, but would write off the brand new ownership of the club based on one transfer window, and a January one at that.

To a point, they were quite an articulate poster with a few good points but recently due to being exasperated by the removal of the fraud that was Dyche and clear disappointment of three wins on the bounce, have become nothing short of a Poundland WUM.

Yeh, there is no way we are till in PSR realms given everyone else's spending over the last 5 years when we have spent absolutely nothing

We could have negotiated a settlement with Chelsea over Broja but chose not to.
Allegedly - show working out from a reasonably reputable source
Leeds asked if we’d terminate the Harrison loan as Fulham were interested but we chose not to.
Again, Allegedly and show working out from a reasonably reputable source
The disappointing window is in part due to the lack of expertise / business acumen within the club. This will take time to remedy.
EFC, pots to piss in - None
PSR, still there.

It is funny how people are just completely ignoring this
