Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

To be fair to Thelwell (and im on record as saying his position is untenable):

He was on a hiding to nothing since Dyche left, in my opinion he spent months planning for a window, for Dyches tactics of sitting back and playing on the break, which is why we were prob a bit down the road wit Nuamah, then Moyes came in and said we aren't doing that anymore.

The fact that, that actually happened means his position ins untenable, but i do think the rug was pulled out from under him from a planning point of view, given the timing and circumstances.

Weird how some people* would counsel patience when it comes to the continued employment of an utterly hopeless football manager, but would write off the brand new ownership of the club based on one transfer window, and a January one at that.

Also weird how he says Evertonians are “congratulating” the club on the window just because they’re not pissing the bed.

The reality is, the clubs still hungover from PSR issues, probably comfortably safe from relegation & we’re operating in a month that’s historically difficult.

It’s been so bad for ages fans have become comfortable in misery, some of them wanted Dyche to stay ffs

Can’t loan domestically so then they’re looking at loaning abroad.

They’ve clearly not fancied anyone that fits that bill & aren’t signing players for the sake of it.
I do not believe for a second that there was not one forward available on loan that would be an alternative option to Ndiaye should Beto continue his usual form.

It is no biggie just a bit amateur on our behalf.

Entirely depends on if TFG are keeping him in post. If they are, all focus needs to be on this summer.

Keeping him on would be disastrous and is just asking for another wasted 5 months of him gathering a list of targets that Moyes just sets fire to as soon as he sees it. We can’t afford to dither in the summer, we need to be straight on it. We ideally need to be sounding out agents of expiring players now really.

I think Tzimas is a good signing for Brighton; not sure he would do so well for us though.
He might end up decent at some point, but the suggestion they loaned him straight back to the Bundesliga 2 when they have just loaned out Ferguson and only have Welbeck & Joao Pedro as recognized strikers (Pedro playing number 10, Rutter playing wide), he wouldn't be ready for us.
Better giving Chermiti minutes when he eventually appears again

Most sides in January aren’t loaning out their best strikers, so it’d be another bang average centre forward to go alongside the other bang average centre forwards we’ve got.

It is what it is, the market has always been like that in this month. We’re going to be short in certain areas regardless because of the situation we’re in (both injury & financially).

If people want to piss their kecks over it all fine but we’re not going down because the biggest move was sorting out a far superior football coach.

TFG clearly want a DoF, they will have one even if it's not Thelwell. If Moyes is identifying targets, Thelwell (if he's being retained) needs to be making sure the scouting team are getting Moyes every ounce of information he needs to stop him vacillating.

Is it? The stark reality is that we needed 3 in by all accounts, then lost 3 more and only got 1 in despite moyes saying early in the window (before Mangala and DCL injuries) that we would see 2 or 3. It just rings of ineptitude which, we are very well versed in which in turn, makes it even more poor from those in power.

I haven't seen any crying but a lot of frustration at the s*** show

Yes, it really really is, grown men screaming and bashing the keyboard, really shows the cry babies at times like this.

People need to grow up, and look beneath the covers a little.

Who said we need 3 in ????? Nobody, certain journos and self appointed podcast super bloos, whipping people into it all, its a load of rubbish.

Moyes said depending on available targets and money, we would like ins.

Who has really improved with this window ?? City aside ??

Not 1 of these players gone to other teams would have improved us, even Alcaraz will have to wait for his chance.

Moyes has in 2 weeks improved every player. We are looking up now, and have players coming back from injury.

Pad the squad with crap, and it becomes bloated and then a waste of money.
