Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Woah,, chill

No one is screaming or bashing their keyboard.#

Everyone on here, and I mean everyone (apart from you it would seem) was suggesting we need at least 3 in before this window - that was before we lost 3 main players.

No biggie, we just go with one average striker for the next month and still no pace.
In fairness though, that was also before we ended up 9 points above the bottom three with a vastly superior goal difference.

As long as the rest of the season is managed well then we're certs to stay up with this squad regardless.

Mate, you basically told us Moyes was a mistake and Dyche should have stayed. Yeah you’re there.

I said Moyes was (and IS) a mistake in terms of the credibility of this club - hiring a man with a terrible record of taking the piss out of this club, its fans and legends.

Moyes will get us safe. But then again Dyche would have too based on the previous two seasons.

IMO it was an over reaction to get him in, but Ilm glad we did now as we look the better for it...but that doesn't mean he's the solution for the club. We all know that he cant take us to success.

The injuries are a bigger problem. We can’t buy players just to cover this reoccurring scenario where half the squad is injured. Some player unavailability is to be expected but we’re constantly running with multiple players out for months.

There’s 4 strikers on the books, we play with 1 upfront. We shouldn’t need extra, but three are on long term injuries.

We have 4 central midfielders for two spots. We shouldn’t need extra but two have missed all season and as soon as they’re returning another has gone down.

The wide players wouldn’t be so much of an issue except McNeil has no return date.

Right back wouldn’t be a problem but Patterson hasn’t been fit and Coleman is never fit.

Docuoure has had his problems in previous seasons too.

We’d be well stocked with two players for most positions if we had anything like decent fitness but no football team can afford to be paying 3 or 4 players per position just because 2 or 3 of them will always be missing months of football.

It's why Moyes took the question put to him in the last press conference about playing Keane up front seriously. He wasn't being polite, he knew at that stage last Thursday there'd be no striker in and that we are one strain or tear to Beto away from Keane up front.

Well that's obviously where we could do with a bigger squad in general, or at least have a much better pathway for younger players to take the step up if needed - just like they do across the park.

Injuries happen to everyone practically every season, such is the nature of the modern game.

It's been an issue for us for years and, once again, it all stems from upstairs.

Hold on, we had Moyes here last time around pinging hamstrings and tearing calfs in pre-season training boot camps in Italy...his 'prehabilitation' gym session nonsense was brought in for that reason.

This only gets worse under Moyes.

That's where I am with it really. A couple of weeks ago I thought we needed to bring players in to give us the best chance of staying up, but results (both for us and for others) since then mean we probably only need about 6 or 7 more points to stay up and I'm confident we can do that with what we have so I don't see it as a massive issue.

It would have been nice to get a bit of a headstart on the summer by doing some good business now and I'm not a huge fan of having too many loan to buy options because you can end up spending £50m just to stay at the same level you were at before, but winning 3 in a row has definitely changed how we needed to look at things in the short term.

Dave - Moyes isn't a physician, nor does he get to dictate the size of the squad all by himself.

Again, injuries happen. It obviously effects squads like ours more given how small our squad has been for the best part of the last two decades and beyond. It isn't a Moyes exclusive thing, nor was it a Dyche thing..

What's plainly obvious though is that Moyes is currently proving that he can get more out of these limitations than Dyche was, hence why we've been fortunate enough to be in a position this window were we haven't been desperate to spunk more money up the wall on temporary reinforcements.

As usual - you're making mountains out of molehills because of your agendas.

You must have missed the whole world outside this forum mate, as social media is full of blues crying.

Tell Moyes he is wrong then, and he failed you.

I’m happy we have not panicked and signed Danny Ings or a Rondon type.
Why would we have signed ings or Rondon? Moyes is disapointed himself he said.

Mate, it is not difficult to see that our inept business has left us short at left back, up front, on the wings and still lacking pace. It feels like people are forgiving everything cos we have had a few good results. We are still looking over our shoulder and Wolves who strengthened have an easy run coming.

Again, no biggie, just very surprised that so many are accepting that we did not address any of the issues that were highlighted BEFORE the window opened and BEFORE we lost 3 key players.

Disagree with this sentiment.

At this point everyone at the club will now, rightly, be looking more up than down. We also shouldn't be worrying about Wolves anymore either.

The best thing we did this winter was replace Dyche & started to win football matches again. Everything else was secondary.

We have the RS, Palace away and UTD next could easily lose all three. It is madness to think we are suddenly real madrid.
