Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Not sure Virginia would agree to a renewal.

Lindstroms option is £20m+. Wouldn't pay that based on him so far. He hasnt scored a goal in years, we can't keep carrying players in attacking areas who don't score. Not sure he's registered an assist yet either. He'd have to really show something the rest of the season to consider taking that option.
This. I’d definitely be sending Jesper back. We need a player on the right that can chip in with goals like NDiaye

Its also the first time in a long time i feel we could also win all 3. I don't think we will but we have a chance.
There is only one result in there I really care about... I literally just saw fat paul at the bus stop and told him we were going to finish their season for the second time in two years

I didn't suggest that. At all.

You're overreacting. It realistic terms, we only really need another 8-10 points out of the remaining games to secure at least 17th. If we can't do that, then something has gone catastrophically wrong beyond just the business we've done in this transfer window..
Wolves have a far easier run in, news signings and also a new manager - 2 losses and we are back amongst them. We need to remember where we were 2 weeks ago .

I see a lot of fellas here are up for us keeping Lindstrom, but I reckon if he was an ugly bald get the very same people would be willing to send him back to Napoli at the end of the season.

Amongst who, exactly?

Do you honestly believe that one of Leicester or Ipswich are capable of overhauling a 9 point difference on top of the massive GD disparity at this point?

As I said - Wolves aren't a factor now. Honestly don't know why you're even bringing them up..

Definitely not everyone.

A couple of (the right) signings would have been good, but there are several who have advocated for pragmatism since TFG took the reigns. See the season through, remain in the Premier League (almost accomplished) and invest in the summer when the squad needs the beginnings of a rebuild.

The summer, unimpeded by any international tournaments is the perfect time to bed new faces in and get prepped for August - assuming that we're able to do early business in June; or that we can strike up pre-contract agreements with impending free agents. Once June comes around, the PSR/FFP burden is lifted to an extent and we're in a new cycle; one that comes with a new stadium offering a HUGE increase in revenue and the additional bonus of sponsorship/naming rights which further boosts our capacity to spend.

I remain unconvinced that Moyes is the right man for this new cycle, but my word he's reinvigorated the place in the space of a few weeks.
Agree with a lot of that. We could have got a player or two in for the future and tried to bed them in - we re assuming that somehow we will get this all sorted in the summer. A lot of work ahead!

Just tried to quickly list players we have in now, who I think are contracted beyond this season

Jordan Pickford

Nathan Patterson
James Tarkowski
Jake O'Brien
Vitalii Mykolenko
Jarrad Branthwaite

James Garner
Tim Iroegbunam
Dwight McNeil
Iliman NDiaye
Harrison Atmstrong

Beto
Chermiti

I figure these are off;

Joao Virginia
Asmir Begovic
Michael Keane
Seamus Coleman
Ashley Young
Carlos Alcaraz
Abdoulaye Doucoure
Idrissa Gana Gueye
Orel Mangala
Jack Harrison
Jesper Lindstrom
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Armando Broja

Yikes.
And to be honest, of that list, I only really expect Gueye and maybe one or two others (Alacaraz potentially) to stay on next season.

I don't expect us to sign Mangala due to injury. I think signing Broja is too risky due to his injury record. I don't think Harrison has played well enough to be bought. Lindstrom has started to improve so maybe possible he stays. I think DCL is going to leave. I don't expect Keane to be offered an extension. Doucoure I'm not sure what way we will go.

Of the rest, I wouldn't be surprised to see one or both of Young and Coleman leave/retire. We might retain one of the keepers but will be looking a back up keeper either way.

We need so much work in the summer that it could go very badly wrong. Signing one or two others yesterday would have made it a lot more manageable.

Apologies did not know it was £20m+.

That is too much unless he starts scoring for fun for the rest of the season or scores a hat trick in both derbies.

Begovic will stay for an easy £30k a week, as will one of Coleman/Young. I think they'll offer Gana a contract, but him signing it is another thing. I fear they might also offer Doucoure another season.

The most important change that needed to happen was done this window. The flag-waving coward and his curry eating housemates along with the constant air of negativity have been jettisoned. It’s very obvious that the playing group now is happier to be rid of him and his outdated methods.

Only one incoming transfer but a player who has ability, knows how quick the Premier league is and will immediately add to the group. In an ideal world we would be getting more bodies in (Nuameh looked dreadful from what I’d seen of him and Marcus Edwards had to sign for Burnley - were either really going to be better than what we had?) but once the very real threat of relegation left with Dyche and his blatant limitations as a manager and coach (along with a large financial outlay to pay him off) it was obviously decided to save as much as possible for the reboot in the summer. It’s always darkest before the dawn…
