Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

We have the RS, Palace away and UTD next could easily lose all three. It is madness to think we are suddenly real madrid.
I didn't suggest that. At all.

You're overreacting. It realistic terms, we only really need another 8-10 points out of the remaining games to secure at least 17th. If we can't do that, then something has gone catastrophically wrong beyond just the business we've done in this transfer window..

I said Moyes was (and IS) a mistake in terms of the credibility of this club - hiring a man with a terrible record of taking the piss out of this club, its fans and legends.

Moyes will get us safe. But then again Dyche would have too based on the previous two seasons.

IMO it was an over reaction to get him in, but Ilm glad we did now as we look the better for it...but that doesn't mean he's the solution for the club. We all know that he cant take us to success.
Doubt he would have pulled us out of that situation this season.

Players were gone, and he said himself he couldn't do anything anymore with this squad.

So, the previous two seasons counted for nothing vs this season.

Woah,, chill

No one is screaming or bashing their keyboard.#

Everyone on here, and I mean everyone (apart from you it would seem) was suggesting we need at least 3 in before this window - that was before we lost 3 main players.

No biggie, we just go with one average striker for the next month and still no pace.
Definitely not everyone.

A couple of (the right) signings would have been good, but there are several who have advocated for pragmatism since TFG took the reigns. See the season through, remain in the Premier League (almost accomplished) and invest in the summer when the squad needs the beginnings of a rebuild.

The summer, unimpeded by any international tournaments is the perfect time to bed new faces in and get prepped for August - assuming that we're able to do early business in June; or that we can strike up pre-contract agreements with impending free agents. Once June comes around, the PSR/FFP burden is lifted to an extent and we're in a new cycle; one that comes with a new stadium offering a HUGE increase in revenue and the additional bonus of sponsorship/naming rights which further boosts our capacity to spend.

I remain unconvinced that Moyes is the right man for this new cycle, but my word he's reinvigorated the place in the space of a few weeks.

Realistically though the majority of the ones that are off could be retained if we so choose. So while it looks scary numbers wise, isn't it better to be able to pick and choose than be stuck them?

Tbh I'd be surprised if we didn't take up the option on alcaraz....

He's definitely the type of player moyes likes, a grafter with that little bit of quality, arteta/pienaar-esque

Gana will stay for another year.... Alcaraz is only in the door so his trial period will decide

Absolutely this.

The club has a brilliant opportunity to 'reset' this summer and it should be embraced. The absolute worst thing they could do is panic and hand out new contracts left, right & centre.

Experience tells me to expect Moyes to be very careful about signings. The last time he was here, he spent as if he was using his own money, if he didn't think he could get value for money he didn't spend. I doubt very much if it was the Texans not providing him with a transfer budget, I think it was more likely to have been Moyes deciding the value wasn't there and deciding to wait until Summer.

He obviously thinks he has enough to get through with what we had plus Alcaraz, I just hope he's right. We look ok at the moment, but,a couple more injuries could change all that.

I could extend Virginia, Gana buy Lindstrom, based on how well they have played this season, and make Alcaraz a permanent based on nothing but a feeling.

Mangala not sure.

The remainder can leave.

Not sure Virginia would agree to a renewal.

Lindstroms option is £20m+. Wouldn't pay that based on him so far. He hasnt scored a goal in years, we can't keep carrying players in attacking areas who don't score. Not sure he's registered an assist yet either. He'd have to really show something the rest of the season to consider taking that option.
