Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

….i agree that any hold up is likely down to Moyes but i very much doubt Thelwell has to agree to anything except how many sugars Moyes takes in his tea.
By agree, I meant more that Moyes said in his presser that he'll be relying on Thelwell and our recruitment team for support. They will have gone to him with suggestions and now he'll do what he's does best and dither and dither.

So I meant Moyes will have to agree on some of the suggestions and that will take an age.

Everton are rubbish, don’t expect decent players to sign for us this early in the transfer window when other teams around Europe are also looking for players, not a chance we are going to be the player’s first choice unless they are as bad as some of the shizzle we already have. Happy weekend everyone x

Moyes also has a lot of unsuccessful buys in his recent recruitment for big money:

Scamacca 38 million
Alvarez 38 million
Aguerd 35 million
Ward Prowse 34 million
Vlasic 30 million
Cornet 20 million
Mavropanos 20 million
Hugill 10 million

Not quite the guaranteed success that some appear to think is to follow. Obviously a lot of examples of good buys aswell particularly lower leagues.

It’s a tough sell for someone to come to Everton unless it’s the only way into the PL from elsewhere in Europe or a line up from the Championship. People can’t just be sold on our history and name anymore. They know where we are in the table. The only selling point is maybe our desperation for the player equates to them getting playing time, something they may not be getting. Then again, other teams might be dumping their problems on us.

Or Moyes is actually taking a look at the player and realising he's not worth the fee quoted? Which we want him to do.
Well, there won't be much available in January. Probably more likely that what is available at the end of the window will be worse.

Think he was prepping for it with his "no point" comment re transfers the other day.

I think Forest have shown that building a decent side isn’t rocket science.

A couple of hardworking/mobile central midfielders
A number 10 that can travel with the ball and pick a pass
Two quick wingers
A centre forward that stays in good areas and can finish a chance.

There is nothing complicated about that, and yet our recruitment has delivered the absolute opposite.
Two of their players we wanted. One we couldn’t afford and the other didn’t want to play under Dyche
