Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I don’t disagree with that but sadly I think the majority of modern players only care about 2 things - how good a team is right now and how much they will be paid.

The new stadium has to be a pull but whether we like it or not, we are classed as “perennial relegation strugglers” by today’s short-sighted, biased media. The only way we change the narrative is to start winning games.
The way we change the narrative is keeping players like Branthwaite and buying players like McAtee.

Really decent Right Back, for the kind of fee mentioned. But, I'm not convinced at LB. Fairly certain I've never seen him have a top game at LB.
I think it makes sense in the summer I would be giving Patterson a run right now and trying to find another left back. issue is unless its a back three Moyes may not trust Patto's defensive skills same as Dyche. Issue is if we never play him he will never improve that side.

Having a team of good players is kind of a good starting point, isn't it ?

I mean, if you sold the stadium now and spent it on the best players in the world - things would improve on the pitch.

The stadiu is a long term investment for the club and area, which is great.

Are you forgetting we're currently having to field a 39 year old right back? Young should be a handy squad player to bring off the bench for the last ten minutes of games not a regular. Get KWP in and we'd finally have pace on the right side and a quick covering defender to stop teams breaking on us so we can move ten yards further up the pitch against the lower teams.
I think we need to give Patterson a run. Plus we have Dixon for the future. Young and Coleman to fill in at times this season.

I like Walker-Peters, but he ain't the solution at LB and we would have to make promises for game time, which the cause blockages at RB.

Personally, would much rather we go out and buy/loan an actual LB.

And, for the record again, Walker-Peters is a really good RB. It's just my personal opinion, but I think we need a left footed specialist LB who can get forward. And money is really tight. Supposedly have around the £10m mark for down-payments this Jan and Southampton want pretty much the full £5m up front for KWP.

I think you’re about 10 years behind here if I’m honest.

Competent football clubs do not do their main business on deadline day.
Swap competent for Wealthy. Unfortunately a lot don’t have much choice and will leave it until the last minute in the hope of getting one or two bargains they can actually afford when the selling clubs reduce their demands to shift players.

No competent clubs do their priority business on deadline day. That’s not to say they don’t sometimes bring in a squad filler or a loan. We are a shambolically run football club, that’s why we are always left scrambling around trying to get multiple players in on deadline day.
