Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

What future prospects do we have who can go on the wing or can create ?
JOB 16.2m
Ndiaye 16.9m
Tim 10m
Beto 25m
Chermo 12m
Onana 33m
Dwight 17m
Maupay 9m
Garner 9m
Gana 2m

= £150.1mil

Onana £50mil sale
Maupay £8.4mil sale
= £58.4mil

Grand total = £91.7mil remaining on 8 players.

£11.462mil per player.

Are:
O'Brien
Ndiaye
Iroegbunam
Beto
Chermiti
McNeil
Garner

...not worth that? Gana isnt due to age.

I reckon we'd be well up if we wanted to move those players on.

Name 2 or 3 permanent signings that hes made who are atrocious?

Maupay we all know he didnt sign
Beto yes but there are caveats

So who?

£25mil in a years time? Erm no mate. Its a 4 year deal where we simply deferred payment with zero year one and no doubt the weight on the backend.

"Not one striker in the world we could have had last season at his level or better that didn’t have a crazy price tag attached? "

How many teams would give us their starting centre forward and 1 in 3 goalscorer -- in a top league for a relegation threatened team -- for zero downpayment ?

We also sold Idrissa to PSG for the guts of 30 mill.

Live footage of Thelwell being all over something.

That made me laugh much more than it should have done seeing as I’m a 43 year old man …..

Thankyou though :)

We’re not even in for them though, we probably hadn’t even heard of that Kerkez. Literally I doubt Thelwell even knew who he was.

Think we were linked with kuivert when he went to Roma …. Then didn’t do much there and I assumed he’d flopped.

What ever happened to Neres?

Don’t really understand why we took the effort to help him get fit and then as soon as he was, we waved him off.

Because part of our deal was that if he signed another contract with us we had to pay spurs some obscene amount

Also him being “fit “ won’t last long imo

He will be “fit” in order to secure some sort of contract and then disappear again imo

Is neither an option?

Hopefully yes … but signing a below average Willian … is better than a fully fit Harrison … unfortunately that’s where we are at .

I’d be going for walker peters 7m
Returning broja and signing someone on loan … possibly Ferguson but I feel he’s been frozen out for a reason and it’s not on footballing ability… as he’s technically good so the reason would be attitude or application ?

I’d be giving back Harrison and Jesper but if we can’t get rid of both I’d punt Harrison first

And then pushing for a RB on loan and signing a wide right player

Begs the question
Why spend 25 mil on a player whose obvious (only ) strength is running on to balls in the channels then ask him to be a target man and play with your back to goal.

His stats were very good at Udinese and I thought he would do well for us if we played to his strengths rather than think he's another Calvert Lewin.

It's pretty bad recruitment tbh. The lad has never had a run in the team of any note yet Dom can go 15/16 games and never looks like scoring or assisting .
No one will convince me if you give Beto that sort of run he wouldn't have at the very least a few goals & assists.
This! Beto needs a run of games not the odd 10 mins at the end to try and nick a goal. DCL has been given plenty of game time but unfortunately he has been average throughout the majority of his career.

Pretty sure hes had a few runs whilst doms been injured?

Yeah there has been talk about him going a bit Lee Sharpe down there on the Brighton party scene.

But if he fancies getting serious about his career, could Moyesy be the man to set him straight?

Beto might score a couple more goals, maybe, over the course of a season.

But I’d be fairly confident it wouldn’t translate to more points.

Look at the Bournemouth game for example, Calvert Lewin and Ndiaye on and we looked comfortable.

Doucoure and Beto on we lose 3-2. Beto is just nowhere near the pace of a game, he doesn’t get across his man, he can’t win headers, he’s late in the challenge. He doesn’t know how to make clearances into 50/50 balls. Watch him next time he’s on and you’ll see what I mean.

I do agree he’s probably a better sniffer than DCL though. But so was Beckford and he wasn’t a premier league striker either.

DCL is very good at certain things when he’s on it, stuff that Beto will never be able to do. He’s just not great in front of goal, not a great paradox for a striker.
I really don't think Beto has got a fair crack of the whip considering how atrocious DCL has been.
So far this season the 2 goals in the league from DCL has resulted in zero points while Beto's only goal in the league has resulted in one point. With DCL having played 6 times more minutes in the league over Beto this season.

It's all hypothetical of course until the end of the season but it would seem mathematically at least if both players were given equal time on the pitch over the course of the season, individually Beto would return more points than DCL.

Both players far off the standard required however. Whichever one of them starts against a currently very poor Spurs defence needs to step up to the plate big time.

Don't think it's the case of unlikely or likely.

It's as simple as this.....we have to.
I get that, and I believe we need to. Nevertheless, compliance with PSR for this season’s accounts is something we can’t take for granted.

Our precarious financial position is easing and will do so more now the owners have serviced the debt and invested, but it may be a slow process.
