Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I think we need to look out of the box and search the so called lesser league to find something different.

Belgium League have a top goalscorer in Tolo Arokodare at Genk - 23apps/14 goals/6 assists.

Turned 24 and experienced Europa League and Champions League qualifiers plus links with Monaco and Fulham but yet to be capped by Nigeria.

Huge talent in Holland is Sam Steijn. 23 year old attacking midfielder at Twenty with 18 goals in 28 apps in all comps.

Fast, strong and plenty of creativity who could move easily into Doucoure's role tomorrow.

Evann Guessand is another one to look out for in France. 23 years old who is linked to West Ham and Spurs.

Strong and fast he would offer plenty for us upfront with his flexibility, playing left wing or forward.

Where the hell are the boy Tolo's clips being filmed?! 😆

First one looks like a war zone and the others look like he's on a school pitch!

In a "normal " club Chermiti would not have been near the first team for quite some time after signing.

We had such a threadbare squad that he was involved with the first team long before he was ready.
I thought this season from the little we saw of him that he was finally beginning to look like someone who could influence a game. The injuries have been so disappointing for him and a set back to his career.

I think we will probably have to wait until next season to see what he is capable of.

I agree , I think he has shown some quality , his touch seems good, he isn’t rapid but isn’t slow either and he seems to be able to retain possession and allow others to come into play.

Also worth noting that everything we have seen is in a Dyche system which we all know does not favour the striker at all.

I’m hopeful that he will become a success .. weather that’s becoming a first team , prem level player or … getting at least our 10m back if we decide to sell.

these type of signings are what we should have been doing instead of burning 15m on Maupay , 27 on bolasie, 45m on siggy , and the millions spent on Walcott , tuson, Morgan, Williams, doucoure , etc which all came in for larger fees and left on free transfers after failing badly and being on massive wages for 5 years

Like the look of the middle one. Good first touch and looks like a he has a goal in him.
That last fella looks great till he gets into the area , crosses and shots a bit all over the place.
Like a French Stuart Barlow
Looks like he would get you up the pitch quickly and be a nightmare to defend against.
That fella at the top reminds me of beto.

I like Guessand - a top talent. Would do well to get him out of Nice though.

Never heard of Steijn. He looks to have a lovely touch and nice low centre of gravity in those clips, however, he seems a bit slow in them and the Eredivisie is a slow league.

As for the other fella. There are some nice touches and movement but the clips do look like they are in a car park. And even though he looks much tidier, he is giving off Tall Paul vibes.

Interesting shouts though mate. Think the issue with Steijn and Tolo would be that we'd never get a work permit.

Exactly, no big clubs were in for him. We needed a champions league level striker (like Rom) and we would have finished top 4 easily under Moyes. But we had to take punts on average players. Even a Defoe level striker would have improved us. But we never had the cash. None of the top 4 had nah interest in Andy Johnson even as a back up. Don't get me started on Beattie.
The top 4 had:

Chelsea - Drogba, Lampard, Robben, Crespo, Joe Cole

Man Utd - Ronaldo, Rooney, RVN, Saha

Liverpool - Ciise, Crouch, Morientes, Fowler, Gerrard.

Arsenal - Henry, Pires, Reyes, Van Persie, Bergkamp, Adebayor.

Tottenham - Robbie Keane, Midi and Defoe

Blackburn - Bellamy, Dickov, Kuqi.

Newcastle - Shearer, Owen, Ameobi, Luque, Chopra.

None of the top 4 needed Johnson. Arguably, Liverpool signing Morientes rather than Johnson was a mistake. But Johnson would've improved any of those 5-7. Newcastle specifically buying Luque for £9m, as a Champions league striker, totally backfired.

Sem Steijn channelling his inner Phil Jones there, I see

If we do have £40mil to spend (based on payments over several years) then it could bring in a couple of good players.

As someone posted before, I wonder now if we should split it across 2+ positions or go for 1 main signing...

Would stay well clear of Tolo Arokodare. Seen him play plenty of times for his club Genk. They brought him in as a replacement for Paul Onuachu. Did not really live up to the expectations for the first 2 seasons there. Shocking first touch and lack of ball control. Also struggled physically.

This season, under a new manager, he has improved lots in all areas, but think he'd struggle big time in the Premiership. Expected more from Paul Onuachu, who imo was the far better player for Genk and he pretty much failed to say it nicely.

It wasn't a joke it was an insult. As was how moyes described Everton fans after he'd gone.

No issue at all with him going. But as soon as he signed as United manager he should have left the building. Instead he and Kenwright gave it a 3 game lap of honour which was an utter disgrace.
