Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

It wasn't a joke it was an insult. As was how moyes described Everton fans after he'd gone.

No issue at all with him going. But as soon as he signed as United manager he should have left the building. Instead he and Kenwright gave it a 3 game lap of honour which was an utter disgrace.
Got to agree with thisTBF. I thought Moyes behaviour was bad but I also think it was more in desperation as he was struggling to get players in for ManU.

He did sort of insult the club with the bids though.
Definitely should have been relieved of his duties when It came out he was going. That was pathetic behaviour from Kenwright which was hardly surprising!!!

You know less than nothing. Both Beattie and Johnson were top purchases at the time.
To be fair Charlie, Beattie was indeed a bad purchase, he already had bigger tits than Jordan when we bought him. But AJ was a success until that utter scrote Wenger decided to call him a diver, then after that it was open season on him. He got kicked to bits and no ref ever seemed to notice.

Standout players currently available are Ferguson and Mcatee (both with the same agency curiously) both will move this window I'm certain of it.

Question is would we be able to convince both to join, would TFG back us financially to bring both in (reckon you're looking at 60-65m+ for the pair or close to it) and would Ferguson be worth taking that risk given the rumours about him, big big gamble as if you get his head sorted you end up with the quality striker we've had maybe twice/three times in total since the days of Sharpe - if it dies t work out you've sank 40m into him - but at his age you figure you'd still be able to get another team taking a chance in turning him around so likely wouldnt take more than a 15-20m hit total.

Part of me says did it take the risk as the reward could be gone changing and the downside is we've lost around the same we lost bringing in a Bolasie or Tosun etc.

Sra.is and O'Brien here, Moyes was always a good man manager (well for British/Irish lads anyways) always worked well with younger players too.

Kinda I'm the camp of let's go for it on them both - the payoff is worth the gamble.

Or we can play it safe bring in relatively safe transfers and kinda muddle along.

If we do have 40m roughly to spend, we'd need say to scrape together and extra 10m in psr room to give us around the 90m mark to spend this window. Certainly doable - a little bit of PSR shenanigans with Roma, a couple of commercial deals, a sale or dodgy deal with Roma before the June 30th cut off etc.

What rumours? Other than Internet crap? Ferguson is absolutely top class. @Ming the Merciful please offer an alternative?

This week for me the priority is to buy a right back and winger using the supposed cash available from the new owner but also sell Michael Keane (Ā£500k), Patterson (Ā£1.5m) and Doucs (Ā£10m) and use that to get in Evan Ferguson on a loan with an option to buy and Kone from Wycombe.

If we sold Patterson for 1.5m we'd end up 4.3m worse off from a PSR standpoint as his book value amortised is still 5.8m for us. So out the 40m supposedly available that you'd spend on a right back and winger you've just lost 20m of it by selling Patterson šŸ˜‚

Nobody on earth is paying 10m for a 32yo Doucoure with 5 months left on his contract and on 125k per week.

We have no domestic loan spots available so cannot loan Ferguson if we wanted to.

Besides that it's a great plan. šŸ˜‚

Doubt anyone is spending Ā£10million on Doucoure.

I seriously doubt that weā€™re going to get rid of 3 and bring in 2 when the squad is already very small & full of injuries.

Doucs has a contract extension. Patterson your numbers are wrong but if hes nowhere near the team after 50-60 games now with Seamus still out he's got to go. Ferguson and Kone would be lethal.
