Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

….linked a month or so back, he’s talented enough but not the physicality for a lone striker role. I was mentioning that the leading scorer in Scotland is a lad at Dundee Utd who’s actually on loan from Wrexham. Says it all.
Moyes used Johnson & radzinski in the lone striker role. It's a myth you have to be a big target man for it. Vardy did it for leicester when they won the league. If you're smaller you need pace and other players higher up & close to you. Moyes has already got our midfield and wingers higher up the pitch than Dyce had them. Not saying this lad from Scotland is good enough, mind, but we don't necessarily need a lump up top.....

Can't our "reserve centre-forward" just step into the breach?
A big opportunity for some keen young lad.
What do you mean it doesn't work like that anymore?

…I think Sherif was on the bench recently, suggesting he might be the one they’re at least thinking of. He’s another who’s had injury problems but scored for the U21s last night. You never know, it wouldn’t take much to leapfrog who we have.

The step is much bigger these days, the old reserve system was ten times better than the u21/23 system. We have had kids in the past who score massive amounts for the u21/23 and still fell short, the ones we have now aren’t even prolific enough for people to even know their name.

True regarding the Wrexham striker but from the fans I know they have told me it was just the wrong player for the way they play.

….yep, but that type need teammates to get around them, we don’t really have personnel that play joined-up football in the top third.

Him and Beto played OK together at tranmere for the last 15 minutes .
Big unit but saying that we need more than either of those can offer at the moment.

We don't need Chilwell, Moyes will 'fix' Mykolenko until the end of the season.
Garner and Iroegbunam are on the way back and can replace Mangala.
It's possible we're waiting to see if we beat Leicester on Saturday before signing a striker (or anyone?) in this window?

There are still 2 days of the window left after Saturday so the result of that game maybe says who will come for the last 3.5 months of this season? If we win on Saturday then 2 out of the 3 of Ipswich, Wolves and Leicester would have to win 4 more games than we do of the last 14 (after we've played Liverpool). If we win 1 of 14 they have to win 5 of 14, we win 2 of 14 they have to win 6 of 14 and if we win 3 of our last 14 games two of those three have to win half of their remaining games. That's not going to happen but I hope we get some sort of reinforcements to help out
Thats all well and good unless Micko gets injured then we are down to Young or maybe Harrison as a left wing back. Striker is priority but LB cover would be my 2nd priority.

Rashford would be a better option, seems unhappy and frozen out at United. Probably cheaper than Ferguson too, more wages though, he'd have to take a large pay cut.
Meanwhile, in the real world.

But not only that, you would want to try and sign a player who can’t even be arsed putting in the effort any more for his boyhood club, to the point where the manager is calling him out and saying he’d rather play the tea lady.

WTF is wrong with some people? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Would love us to sign that Yuri Alberto

Obviously never watched him play but the idea of signing a Brazilian striker straight from Brazil just does something to me
Ive watched plenty of him mate, im over here now and watch a lot of Brazilian football.

He would be a crowd favourite, is a very good finisher and also loves a battle with CBs
Puts himself about a lot and works hard.

He is a proper Everton number 9, obviously its a big step up but i wouldnt be against it at all.

He is about 1 goal in 3 striker over his career
