Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Gives a bad name to everyone called Ben and not just because he thinks he’s an uber blue for some reason, but because he calls himself Benj. My name’s Benjamin and I would never ever think to call myself that. Tool.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, we need some signings

Could have written this myself , I’m a Ben and to abbreviate it to BenJ is just moronic

No, there are some managers that are obsessed with PL experience, Moyes isn’t one of them.

What these ITKs have been saying is that Moyes wants players for the now, which he considers the British leagues - PL, Championship, SPL.

That's his perogative, but the issue is that this approach (especially with no domestic loan slots available) severely limits our options and, probably, quality in a January window.

Yup but when Moyes said that a lot of the people are leaving out the second part of the sentence which was and contribute to the club for a long time, to me that sounded like he wanted players with experience but younger players with a 1-3 seasons under their belt who know the league not uber veterans.

That's what the ITKs have said. It chimes with what he was saying about wanting players ready to come straight in etc.

You can choose to believe it or not, but that's what they've said. They’re not unfairly maligning Moyes. They are talking about the difficulties this window.

Yeah but for example that would include say the likes of KWP, Ferguson, Mcatee, KDH and numerous others who aren't pushing 30 or jobbers

Moyes signed Denis Stracqualursi from the Mexican league. Not sure why there's this hyper fixation on how we're obsessed with only getting Prem experienced players now (even if that was the case pre-Moyes).

There's overexposure to random talents across Europe in the media now and Everton "missing out on them" (95% of which we were never in for). Absolutely fair enough to criticise previous strategy but none of us have a clue who they're going for or the conditions for any deals.

Get mad if/when we mess it up, no point getting wound up beforehand.
How old is Dirty Den? Surely younger than Ashley Young? Could still do a job for us. Bring him home

rather listen to the dof who's identified good European talents in the past rather than buy the likes of Longstaff and Ings

Rather Thelwell identifies 2 or 3 in each position and then discusses with Moyes.

Yes Moyes spotted some super players many years ago...but he left Wham with an ageing team & Sunderland was a joke.

Thelwell has done well i think based on needing to sell to cover the bills and sign players on credit.

Kevs the nose is playing solitaire on his laptop.

What else could he be doing apart from sniffing ants with his conk

Take that mans nose out of your God damned mouth :o :(

You missed out Cahill and Lescott from the list of players who'd never played premier league footy mate, Lescott missed the entirety of the season after he got promoted with Watford and was sold the season they went down and Cahill never even got there with Millwall.

Lescott was Wolves i think. Amazing we got him after that major injury.

Not sure who is similar in the championship now in terms of upside to those we had back in the day. Its not cheap anymore.

Though i would raid the lower leagues for u21s.
