Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Money talks. And tbe player would have to want to come here. And sadly, that isn't an exciting proposition currently.
We have to sell the ambition of the new owners. A new stadium means new investment and better players. He's the first cog in a major rebuild. And if it goes wrong, he can have a reasonable relegation release clause to protect himself. I doubt he's got title challenging suitors courting him right now so we have a chance

Cashflow and profitability are two different issues though.

We could be solid from a Cashflow pov but still fail a PSR test.

The owners pumping lots of money into the club will have no positive effect on PSR.
It will if it reduces interest costs. Paying off expensive loans with new equity could save us millions a year in interests costs but I take your point.

Not sure tbh mate, he went on loan twice to Sheff United, first time yeah did a championship promotion hopeful, second loan though he went t there knowing it was gonna be a tough session and likely gonna be relegated, but we t as he wanted to play and apparently according to they fans really liked the club/fans

Why would he come here, chance to be a player a new teams built around, high profile team still somehow, big shiny new stadium, won't have to even move house, and a family historic connection with the club.

Lads still only 22, so knows also if he does well he'd likely get a nice to a club winning stuff on the back of his time here.

It's also a good fit for him. He would play regularly, and probably have a midfield built around him.

We also have other similar ages players like NDiaye, Brainthwaite, Garner etc.

I also think Moyes is a decent manager for him. He's improved players at a similar age. Like if he was 19 it would be different, but Moyes would have no worries about throwing him in.

How ? No idea what any blueprint for success looks like. To be fair that's not entirely unsurprising. But there needs to be a project on the pitch to support what's going on, off it. Develop a model. Recruit to that model. When that model has run its course move on to next phase.

Hate the way some people act like we are the most unattractive club on the planet.
I mean, stands to reason we should be more attractive than those below, a few above us and many abroad too.

There are challenges with selling a relegation battle to someone who is being courted by a club battling for a european place or even still in one of those cups - lets be honest.

What sort of players helps that transition to best of the rest again ? And which help guarantee survival in the short term ?

To try and answer my own question, Moyes combined the best of the Championship with some CL club cast-offs (E.g. United) then had some good youth which took time to come through.

His PL aso-ran transfers were a bit mixed and happened when we climbed the table - Yakubu, Andy Johnson, Simon Davies, Beattie.

So far, only 9 recorded PL transfers according to the bbc listings.

It seems that no-one is in a particular hurry this window. Of course it does not mean we shouldn’t be, but indicative of a slow market, maybe the bubble has really burst.

Even City are slow to market.
