Khedira would be another in a long list of shortsighted moves. And while some people think that it is ok because Usmanov is behind everything and the money will never run out, it doesn't make it not a problem from a footballing perspective. Great teams aren't build on players on their last contract.

But we haven’t really got a proper number 6. We all hope Gbamin is the man, but even if he comes back soon, it’s unlikely and probably not a great idea, he suddenly plays every game from now till the end of the season.
So that means we will drop Allan back or Doucoure or Davies has another go or maybe Delph. Or like I’ve read all day about tomorrows game, move holgate or Godfrey into that role.
On a free for 18months It wouid be a good idea imo, We can see how Gbamin comes back, with out putting to much pressure on him. we can Also play Allan & Doucoure more box to box which suits them better.

Its been pointed out many times now (even by Norwich fans) that Godfrey was the only centre back playing for most of their season due to injuries.
Also that they didnt play a DM and Aarons and Lewis were told to play high and wide.
In addition, Godfrey doesnt look too bad does he + Aarons is 2 years younger and adds to the young crop of u21s were growing.
Why would we not sign a centre mid for £40mil?
Soumare, Zakaria and Guimaraes are all different types but all add alot of value.
We cant go through a season with only 2 good centre midfielders...especially when playing 3 central players lol
The easy answer imo is that we dont have the money. FFP would stop us from doing a 40 mill transfer. We might have the money, but FFP will hold us back. We need to get rid of our sh*t who are just holding up our wagebill.
Kedhira might be a solution for 6 months. But i cant imagine the contract will be less then 18 months, and that gives me a second thoughts.

I have no idea if Godfrey is good or not. He's been passable playing out of position at fullback. He wasn't very good when he played CB in a back 3 but that system was a mess so whatever.
Norwich played Zimmerman 17 times and Hanley 15 last season. Those are both CBs. So I'm not sure about that part of it. Nor the DM part as Tettey played a lot and so did that McLean lad and they both aren't attackers. I mean I get Norwich and Everton fans wanting to defend him but I'm still not sure.
Not that it even matters right now. I've watched Holgate play 100 times now and I'm still not sure how good he is. There have been stretches where he looks pretty great and others where I'm not so sure he has a future here. I expect Godfrey to be the same.
As far as Aarons goes I just think he'll be pretty meh. I don't think he will be bad, but I don't expect him to be great either. So 30m feels ridiculous to me. I just think other players are out there at lower prices that can be just as good or better. Emerson, Maehle and Mazraoui are names that spring to mind immediately.

I’m not so sure, I don’t think he showed anything in the PL for a relegated team that had young players like Godfrey, Cantwell and Buendida stand out. I get the Sessegnon vibe off him where they are rated in the Championship but can’t make the step up. With the English tax I think he’s a really risky transfer however I doubt we actually have any interest in him.

Hasn’t FFP been stopped and might go for good. Honestly I wouldn’t worry yourself with our finances. And maybe stop listening to the FFP perverts on here and all over twitter.
Just remember we didn’t have any money in the summer and it was loans and frees. You don’t hire a manager like Ancelotti and pay him 11mil a season and not back him.
Another top class midfielder, box to box is a must next summer. Gomes, Davies and Delph aren’t good enough as back up. Like Tosun & Bernard aren’t good enough back up to the front players
Aarons would be a great sign. Good defender with something lack loads of.... actual pace.
