We probably could have had him for 20m or so in the summer. 25m being quoted now. Both reasonable.

If they come up though the price will shoot up next summer.

Aarons I would take. Given Holgate's ability to cover RB, and Coleman still being serviceable, I'd be tempted to offer Norwich a deal where we buy Aarons now, but loan him back to them for the rest of this season. He counts as home grown I believe, and won't be 21 until January - lots of potential, and he caught the eye a few times in prem fixtures last year. He'll benefit from being heavily involved in a promotion campaign with Norwich (possibly his second?) and that will aid his development.

Buendia I'm less enamoured with. He was pretty anonymous for them in the Prem last year and turns 24 in a couple of days... I fear he may not have much more upside than he currently shows.

He's back in the Championship this year mate. Some players just cannot make the step up to the Prem - not saying he won't but it's a big jump and he didn't cover himself in glory last season, although appreciate the same could have been said for Godfrey.

He was really good last year. It was Gueye at Villa all over.

No it isn't. He is scoring in a far poorer league with massively reduced standard. In his one season in the prem whenit was harder he couldn't score.
Not rocket science to work out why.

We will see. What is a fact here is he was a better creator than anyone in our sqaud last season and that is still very valuable.

Funny links really. I sort of have us down to sign lads from above on loans, or very cheap youngsters from probably places like France.

I don't see bit money buys (and these would be). We know what Brands has said about January, and the potential premium.

Norwich are having a great season as well, so would be odd for them to jettison it, unless a private deal has been made with them- along the lines of- play well into January and we will let you go for x.

I'm sure Norwich would want 25m for each, similar to Godfrey. With each game that goes by Godfrey looks a better signing, and probably hows that judging them within the performance of Norwich more broadly is foolish. They were an inexperienced team with lots of talent. Put them into a better team and they can get better.

Taking each on their merits. Buendia is a terrific player. For me an upgrade on Bernard in the squad. If Bernard goes out on loan, or maybe a permanent it would make sense. Made a lot of chances last season and seems to have added goals.

Aarons is also very very quick like Godfrey. What he's got, compared to most 20 year old fullbacks is that he has lots of games under his belt. We know Ancelotti values that.36 games in the Premier league and nearly 100 in the top 2 leagues. You sense he will have ironed out a lot of the inconsistencies.

I'd be very happy if both players came.

I've put my thoughts just above, on both and the likelihood. Thats the bit I find hardest. All you can think, is that if Norwich have agreed to let them go in Jan for x figure, if they knuckle down this season (they have done) that's all I can think is how it might work.

We are transitioning into that sort of team. I also think he's improved his defending. However it's one of them whereby Holgate/Coleman hold the reigns and he is gradually eased in.

The question to me, when you know what Brands has said before, is why would they sign him this January as opposed to waiting for the summer? The general belief if there's a premium in January. Maybe they feel if it's not done now, it will cost too much moving forward.
