Everton January transfer window 2021

That's £40m-£60m then.

Got to get that type of investment right.

How many have spent that this window?

Can't think of many myself, but then I'm not a director of football.

Also have to look at the other argument - knows the league/has a decent record scoring in the prem for a Bournemouth side/cheap.

Is he?

Debatable.

I'll assume three-year deal at £75k a week and Bournemouth will have a fee, or if they don't he'll have the equivalent Bosman fee off us before signing. So say £10m?

We're clearing the decks, whoever we want is a Summer target and I'd rather us not panic buy today just to appease the cryarsing.
Its amazing we’ve cleared so many players. This problem has been strangling the life out of us for three years.

Even if we sign no one, this has been a really significant window for the club. It’s properly set us up for summer.

Nobody knows, but the circumstance dictates it should be.

Goes back to my first post on it;

If Everton have left it until the very last second to say compromise on wages or you're left at Bournemouth then fair play.

It's why I've also said earlier the devil is in the detail - we don't know.

If we move for him now, I don't see it as a panic move like I did with Iwobi.

I think they'd be looking to exploit the circumstance.

We'll see.

It is hardly cryarsing, we have been woeful for weeks and now letting our average subs leave on loan without getting anyone in We have a team that has ZERO creativity or pace and you suggest people are cryarsing
Two or three injuries and we will be bottom half before you can say "I am a knob!

Indeed, but while they do we're pissing away a golden chance at European football in a topsy turvy league season, because we have no squad depth.

That's my frustration - we've spent in January before when the season had been over in October because of a terrible start, but we're not spending now when we have a great chance of kicking on.

When the crowd is back next season, we're knackered - the mental midget Michael Keane will be back to his old self.

Just frustrates me.

Can hardly tell.

Thats all well and good but the danger is we fall away in the second half of the season and finish mid table then no one decent wants to come unless we throw silly money at them and we potentially lose a few of our better players and thus the cycle of gash continues.

this season may of been the best chance we’ll have in a long time to break into the top 6

We got Allan, James Rodriguez, Doucoure & Godfrey for £60m after finishing 12th.

We're literally only half way through the season, which is something people forget. There's 57 points left for us to get!

Including the FA Cup games. Players will be run into the ground from now on until the end of the season. Injuries permitting I can see a top 10 finish minimum.

I think the consensus is we have overachieved in a big way, and the limitations of the squad when certain injuries set in were exposed to such an extent that Ancelotti basically had to restructure the way we set up from scratch.

We had to add depth to kick on IMO. To put it into context, to get the same points from the last 19 games as the first, it'd give us 66 points - enough for the Champions League last season. I just can't see us doing that in the run in or even getting close. I'd be guessing at around 55 points, so 8th/10th.

You're probably right and in the cold light of day, without an accountant's objective eyes, the rota were full of overpaid dross and they've slimmed the books.

You'd even say that Kean has had opportunities at PSG to develop as a player, while we've saved money; Tosun and Kenny going strengths us financially too.

Long term, like you mention, it probably (errr hopefully) sets up for the summer window. But football isn't a science... it isn't just about numbers and isn't linear.

The squad is heavily weighted in terms of defensive minded players or of limited ability, and then you look at the bench as you only mentioned on Saturday.

We've perhaps made the right choices based on our situation, their remit and long term plans, but as a fan I can't help be disgruntled about our options - or lack of.

Next season will now be a big acid test as if we haven't made sizeable improvements in our front line, we'll have had the same recurring problem for a few seasons.

We will be more attractive with European football than without... cant see us shopping at the next bracket up if we fail. Will James et al want to stay in that scenario?
