Everton January transfer window 2021

You can't, but a guy who is employed as a Director of Football should have better options than a 29-year-old from the Championship without a goal in a dozen games on £75k+ a week.

If it's a loan, I retract my comments - I wouldn't mind a loan. If it's a signing, I'm disappointed - I accept the necessity but the fact it's come down to "Josh King or no one" means, in my eyes, Brands hasn't done his job right.
I never wanted King. He really feels like a January panic buy. Some on here like him and I guess he would be better than what we’ve had. It’s just we’re probably going to get tied into another high wage deal that we may regret this time next year.

I think you pay whatever for someone who's decent who can play across the front line. A Richarlison type, but quick.

Josh King "fits the bill" in many respects, but his age, wages, the fact he's a contract mercenary... all black marks against him. Had to be someone more worthy of a punt than him in world football.
A black mark against him is also that he's not good at football.

Also he doesn't play the right. People have constructed this myth about him on the forum without bothering to even check to see if the premise is true.

What if we sign someone today and they both play at the weekend and both break their leg?

Then I’ll say “that’s unfortunate, nothing the club can do about that”. If we don’t sign any backup and our one centre forward gets injured then we were asking for it.

We're literally only half way through the season, which is something people forget. There's 57 points left for us to get!

Unfortunately Newcastle have sussed out our players cant handle a a press and went for it, surely if Bruce has figuered it then most of the PL will have aswell. Only Leeds next......

It's difficult.

I just look at the squad before Brands, and now.

He always said it would take time.

A few years on, he's had more hits than misses and the result is we've got a better, and very importantly, leaner squad. He's done that with arms behind his back with the pile of cack he had to clear out.

Compare the squad before Brands and now, and pop Carlo Ancelotti into the equation and I think it's very good progress.

I'm hoping this summer will see us really kick on.
Debatable. At best hes at 50/50 with half of the hits being obviously picked by the manager at the time.

Hits
Digne, Richarlison, James, Allan, Doucoure, Godfrey.

Misses
Bernard, Gomes, Lossl, Iwobi, Delph, G'Bamin, Kean

Jury Out
Olsen, Braithwaite, Mina (still not convinced here)

Its better than Walsh but hardly amazing.

Including the FA Cup games. Players will be run into the ground from now on until the end of the season. Injuries permitting I can see a top 10 finish minimum.
Lack of numbers is worrying - especially with covid an added factor. It’s a gamble - but even if we go on a horrendous run the worst that will happen is we don’t make Europe.

It does feel as if we are up against it with regard to ffp and having to make some cuts.

Ugh when are we going to stop doing this

We got Allan, James Rodriguez, Doucoure & Godfrey for £60m after finishing 12th.
Purely On the back of Carlos rep and the hope he gets us competing sooner than later, won’t be many top players who’ll want to come to compete for a top 10 place no matter who the manager is

Its amazing we’ve cleared so many players. This problem has been strangling the life out of us for three years.

Even if we sign no one, this has been a really significant window for the club. It’s properly set us up for summer.
Yet it does nothing for us now when we are in a position to capitalize on a good start to the season.

Thats the frustration.
