Everton, our summer transfers and short term cost control regulations

He's just indicated we may be signing five 120k per week players plus replacing several other well paid players. Think that classifies as busy.

@The Esk has been saying we will be busy for weeks if not months.

He's concerned now with accounting and compliance tricks or issues with how we go about things.

I told esk before. We should not try to do too much in one summer. Spread it out as its easier for us compliance wise.

Either way. The days of 'plucky little everton' are over.

we appear to have ruled out Lukaku leaving

My reading of the situation for what it's worth is that our statement of intent to keep Lukaku is nothing more than an opening gambit, if Lukaku jumps at the offered money then fine, if he doesn't then any clubs who come sniffing will know that they're going to have to pay top whack to get their man. I'll be surprised if we don't adopt a similar approach on Stones.

I guess its like if you want to buy another house, but dont want to sell your existing one.

You know you can afford both, but the rules say that you dont earn enough to allow you to have both.

Sort of.

Yes mate, the cost of a transfer is spread over the length of the contract and a sale is booked as revenue in the year of the sale.
So the revenue calculation is sale value less net book value of the player in the balance sheet.

Any idea If The players transfer fee is split across the length of the initial contract or can the annual depreciation charge hitting the p&l be rolled into any new contract thus reducing the annual charge on for example lukakus current deal once he signs a new contract.

I know we will be busy, any one could figure that out.
I hope we are really busy and creative this summer though, as Stones is real quality and we need to do whatever we can to keep him and Lukaku.
Personally I think there are ways to get through this summer without having to sell them or Barkley and still bring in some great players.

Infrastructure expenditure is excluded mate.

We could take a £4billion mortgage for a stadium and no one would bat an eyelid.

It's the player acquisition issue and wages.

However Moshiri isn't daft.

He's got the best advisers on this. I'm sure.

I know. It was an analogy about cash in the bank also needs profit. For players.

Am I right in thinking that the FFP does not include infrastructure spend i.e the Stadium ?

We can't go mad with the team so I guess we can use the extra revenue building the infrastructure right ?

If I'm wrong then apologies

Don't get why we need to sell Stones. If we need 40m get rid of McGeady (2m), Kone (2m), Niasse (5m), McCarthy (15m), Oviedo (4m), Garbutt (3m) - they are all conservative fees and include wages and you're over 40m. Of those, only McCarthy would need 'replacing' and I'm sure there would be takers for all of them.

Hibbert, Osman, Pienaar - none of them need replacing and that's about 7m a year saved too.
