That's an impressive feat for young Ryan , turning up a day or two ago, playing in a team unknown to him and getting MoM. Apart from scoring he probably couldn't have wished for a better start. His season really only seemed to start about five or six weeks ago , he hasn't played consistently but has played 2 1/2 matches in the last 8 days so not surprising if he faded at end.

Conor Grant played 90 mins, Felipe 87 in Doncaster's 2-0 home defeat to Rochdale. I saw one brief mention of Felipe and Grant had a few good mentions.
Russell Griffiths was sent off in 36 min of Halifax's 4-1 away win at Gateshead for wiping out an opposing player going for a through ball.

hahaha, classic. if in doubt.

It's perfect for him. League football, in a tough division & miles from home so he has to stay in digs down there.

This experience will really help him grow as a player and a person.

This lad will be in the EFC 1st team squad within 12-18 months, he's that good.

Hope so.

On-loan Everton forward David Henen helped Fleetwood leapfrog Swindon in Sky Bet League One, scoring in a convincing 5-1 victory. Fleetwood might have been ahead in the first five minutes, with Henen twice powering beyond the Robins back-line but unable to find a way past goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux. Nicky Ajose went closest to breaking the deadlock at the other end, stinging the palms of Chris Maxwell having wrong-footed Joe Davis. But Henen was the real danger and his power proved crucial in the opener, driving in from the right and squaring for Adam El-Abd to net an own goal. Fleetwood doubled their lead 10 minutes after the break, Tariqe Fosu feeding David Ball who tumbled under the sliding challenge of Vigouroux. Antoni Sarcevic's spot-kick found the net and the floodgates opened. Sarcevic turned provider for the next, picking out the run of Henen whose finish left Vigouroux frozen. Fleetwood were picking Swindon off on the break, adding a fourth when Jimmy Ryan beat his man and picked out Reading loanee Fosu who turned and found the far corner. From there the hosts took their foot off the gas and Swindon took momentary advantage, grabbing a consolation as Ajose flicked home Ben Gladwin's cross. But the scoring was not over - substitute Bobby Grant adding a fifth Fleetwood goal with a sublime left-footed strike, from 25 yards out, curled into the top corner - See more at: https://www.clubcall.com/swindon-to...ned-swindon-1789601.html#sthash.Y7VHfDOA.dpuf

So a lot mentioned earlier, but putting it all together:

Championship
Fulham - Garbutt played 90 minutes in away 1-1 draw at MK Dons

OS Match Report
"The home side made the breakthrough with half an hour played when Bowditch was able to get the ball under control and hit a shot on the swivel which whistled into the net via the far post. It could have been worse shortly after when a deep cross was met by Bowditch at the far post, but Garbutt was on hand to slide in and scoop the ball off the line."
"Fulham had a let-off in the 66th minute when Dons right-back Jordan Spence got in behind Garbutt and cut the ball back to Nicky Maynard who leant back as he connected and ballooned his effort over the bar."
"Murphy had been a threat all day and in the third minute of stoppage time delivered a dangerous ball across goal that needed diverting behind by Garbutt."

League One
Wigan - Junior unused sub in 1-0 home win over Shrewsbury

Doncaster Rovers - Grant and Mattioni start in 0-2 home defeat to Rochdale, Mattioni subbed in 87th minute.

OS Match Report
"Everton loanee Conor Grant caused the Dale defence constant problems as he made a number of very positive runs through the middle. Chesting the ball down and volleying at goal on the turn, he forced a good save from Pereira."
"Some fantastic build up play by Rovers eventually allowed Cedric Evina to cross deep for Felipe Mattioni at the back post, volleying dangerously across the face of goal his effort was put behind by the Rochdale defender."
"Rovers looked as though they were going to take the lead as Grant skipped past his man before playing a low ball across the box for Coppinger."

Random fan comments
"Connor Grant was the best player."
"Mattioni didn't see enough of the ball in the 2nd half and we never really got going."

Fleetwood Town - Henen started and scored in 5-1 home win over Swindon, subbed in 79th minute

OS Match Report
"Henen looked lively up-top for Town during the opening exchanges, and latched onto Eggert Jonsson’s through ball before forcing Lawrence Vigouroux into a save."
"The Cod Army took the lead on 34 minutes when David Henen’s low cross from the byline was sliced into his own net by Adam El-Abd."
"Henen made it three on the hour with a placed finish into the bottom corner after a defence splitting through ball from Sarcevic."

Random fan comments
"Played well today and scored a cracking goal!"
"I thought the new loan players looked very lively up front."

League Two
Cambridge Utd - Ryan Ledson played full fame in 2-3 home defeat to Accrington Stanley

OS Match Report
"Ledson then had the Amber Army on the edge of their seats, when he swivelled on the ball 30 yards from goal before firing off a venomous low drive, which Mooney again parried away from goal."
"United dug their heels in to try and find a way back into the game, with Corr and Legge both having sights on goal from deep free kicks delivered by Vindis Man of the Match Ryan Ledson. The U’s also looked to have been denied a penalty of their own when Ledson played Williamson through on goal, who seemed to have his shirt tugged by his opposite number."

National League
Chester - Calum Dyson started on bench in 1-2 home defeat to Woking, came on in 37th minute

OS Match Report
"After the break, Calum Dyson – off the bench – had an effort which was comfortably caught by the keeper."
"The Blues needed to step up a gear – and almost had a leveller when Hannah’s clipped cross into the box was headed onto the crossbar by Dyson."

Random fan comments
"Dyson had a decent game when he came on and was unlucky not to get a goal."
"Dyson did ok when he came on, at least gave us some physicality."

Halifax Town - Russell Griffiths started in 1-4 away win at Gateshead, sent off in 34th minute with score at 1-0 to Halifax

OS Match Report
"Caretaker boss Jim Harvey made four changes to the starting line-up, with Russell Griffiths, Hamza Bencherif, Matty Brown and Kevin Roberts all coming in for Town, setting up in a 3-5-2 formation."
"Matty Brown headed narrowly over with a looping effort from a corner, while Griffiths was called into action, saving well from Danny Johnson’s deflected strike."
"With Town buoyed by their goal, they pushed on in search of a second with James seeing his dangerous cross put behind for a corner. However, at the other end a bizarre moment saw Griffiths sent off for colliding with Ryan Bowman, having been adjudged to have fouled the frontman."

Random fan comments
"Then the ref came into play, a long ball sees Griffiths and a Gateshead attacker going for the same ball. Two defenders get behind Griffiths, he gets the ball before both players collide, the player goes down and the ref whistles. I assume its a free kick as you can't challenge a keeper nowadays, but amazingly, even though it looks like contact was made outside of the box he points to the spot. To make it even worse, the ref ignores the fact that Griffiths won the ball and he was the one clattered, ignores the fact that the ball was going AWAY from goal, ignores the fact that there are TWO covering defenders and decided to send him off."

The Cambridge fans seem to like Ledson. Apart from the fact he won their official MOTM, the fans in general have been pretty positive about him too. Thought this was a good comment:

Carden's debut at Burton was one of a few that left me thinking "Wow, we have to keep this player"

He was everywhere, winning tackles, breaking play up, keeping it in possession.

His U's career faded badly, but was key to our reaching Wembley. The rest as they say is history

Ledson yesterday had the same feel. Likes a tackle, Intelligent on the ball. Often delaying a pass to pick a better one whereas Jughes or
Lughes would just move it foward
regardless and often turn over possession.

At times I thought he was trying too hard to be a Glenn Hoddle or Beckham and pick a long worldy of a pass, but he can certainly play and will cut sides open for us without a doubt.
