League One
Wigan: Francisco Junior - started on bench, brought on at half time in 2-2 home draw with Millwall

"Latics have made a habit of starting brightly in the second half so far this season, and again Caldwell’s men looked the livelier of the two in the opening exchanges, with substitute Francisco Junior galvanising his side in the middle.

The substitution soon paid dividends eight minutes into the second half, when Junior’s tenacity won the ball back and the ball fell to Jacobs midway in the visiting half, who surged into the left hand side of the area, before coolly rolling the ball past Jordan Archer into the bottom right hand corner."

Our best player by a mile is @junior1992j Need to be winnin those games
@junior1992j was quality when he came on tonight glad to see him back in contention
Amazing playing tonight by @junior1992j brought the second half to life!

Need to add Russell Griffiths England U20 GK to the list. He'd been loaned to Colwyn Bay as of last week , and has played at least 2 games already including last night in. A 2-0 loss at Buxton. They play in the EvoStick Northern Premier, level 7 I believe , I.e level below Stockport.

Yep, good to keep an eye on although I haven't been following match reports and tweets since it is quite a way away from League football.

So current NPL state of play is (?):
Griffiths was playing for Northwich Victoria but now for Colwyn Bay
Stanek is playing for Hyde Utd

So glad Junior has finally found a club where he is getting game time and doing well.

If Wigan want him permanently and Junior was happy with the move, think it would be best for the lad if we just released him in the January window - his contract is up at the end of the season anyway.

Russell Griffiths started for Colwyn Bay today in their 2-1 win against Stamford. I was looking at some updates and it sounded like he had quite a good game:

GOOD SAVE BY RUSS - Bay keeper Russ Griffiths saves his side with a great block from Shawn Richard's close range header at the far post.
GOAL FOR STAMFORD

Its been on the cards and comes on 18 minutes. Good passing move tees up NATHAN HICKS who finishes with a well-struck shot into the corner of the net.
Griffiths makes a good catch from a Richards cross.
BIG SAVE BY GRIFFITHS - Russ Griffiiths makes a big save at close range from Clements and then Corbett gets in a foot to divert the ball away and prevent Richards having a tap in. Close.
Misunderstanding between Hopley and Griffiths gives away a cheap corner, but Bay manage to clear.

I'm quite interested to see how he does, he's always looked good at youth levels and it would be great if we got a good keeper coming through. It's only a low level but he's having a good start.

To add to your gk info with Stanek for Hyde Utd in their 0-2 home defeat against Stourbridge:
It's also the home debut for new GK Stanek, on loan from Everton. He's a Czech international u19, and he's here!
Stanek has gone for the short sleeve GK shirt today. Altering it himself a la Joe Hart. I appreciate that.
Beautiful goal. A wonderful cross is met by Hawley, who leaped like the proverbial salmon, and puts it in the top corner. Stanek no chance.
Dodd dinks a cross to Tonks who does an incredibly photogenic diving header, it's easy enough for Stanek to catch. Still 0-1, 20 mins gone.
Phh everyone thought that went in but Stourbridge hit the side netting after a lovely save from Stanek.Well, the positives from that half are that we are just the one down, and Stanek looks very good indeed.

Other player news:
League One
Wigan: Francisco Junior - unused substitute in 0-0 home draw with Walsall
National League North
Stockport County: Jordan Thorniley - unused substitute in 1-0 away win at Gainsborough

Clips of that match on Skyspurts, McAleny through on goal after 30 secs but shots wrong side of post. Garbutt looks like he's on when Charlton score their goals, he's wandering about outside the box for the first and on the edge of the box for the second. It's clearly him with a 3 on his back, didn't look like he was playing LB though or maybe I'm reading too much from TV clips.

Garbutt didn't play well at all.

Edit : He has been out though (rusty)

Apparently we're sending Colwyn Bay another keeper, called Louis Gray, to play in 3 games while Griffiths is away with England U20s.
Meanwhile, Everton have come to the rescue after loanee keeper Russ Grifiths was this week called up for the England Under-20s squad to play a three-match tournament in Germany starting next week against Holland, Turkey and Germany.
Griffiths is clear to play for Colwyn Bay against Stamford, but will then miss the club’s next three fixtures and Everton have agreed to replace him with Louis Gray, formerly at Wrexham, while Russ is away.

To follow up on yesterday's match:

Charlton - McAleny starts, substituted 71st minute in 2-2 home draw with Fulham

McAleny - 6.0 did alright created a couple of opportunities, tracked well a few times.
McAleny - 2.5 May as well go back to Everton
McAleny - 5 should've at least hit the target in the first minute. Decision making not great
McAleny - 5 - Unacceptable miss, bit was the source of a lot of the attacks on the wing.
McAleny - 6 had he scored after 30 seconds we would have won. Played well and think he will contribute well
McAleny 6.5 Tidy player. His finishing was bad though - not just the first-minute miss either
McAleny - 6.5 - Missed a golden opportunity but is capable of making chances for himself and others. Our brightest player in the first half and worked hard to track back but tired early.
McAleny - 7 - apart from miss at the start, I thought he looked good and will be better for more game time
McAleny - 5,5 should have scored but looked good early on, very weak 2nd half witch he started almost giving Fulham a goal
McAleny - 4. So lightweight & defensively naive
McAleny - 6 Great run, poor miss

Safe to say opinions appear to be divided.

"And that should have been that. Kit Symons obviously thought so, because almost immediately after that goal he pulled off the ineffective Pringle and replaced him with Luke Garbutt – finally fit enough to make the game day squad. This wasn't a defensive move, either. Garbutt took to Pringle's wingback role with relish. He looks as if he may well be completely recovered.... Individually? Well, I'm wondering who will be our left back when we play next. With the international break coming up, there'll be plenty of time for Garbutt to be ready to play 90. Both showed attacking intent and defended well when called for."
"But Garbutt looked to me like a guy who thinks the championship is beneath him. That free kick he took from the right that just went straight along the ground and out!"
"Garbutt looked completely lost out there....it was his clearance that gave them there first......and he didn't cover for there second.....they nearly scored a third from when he had a shot."
"I didn't mind garbut in principle when he came on. Attacking left back who is working his way back to fitness. We are two up. Pringle wasn't playing out of his skin. However garbut doesn't look to have a head on his shoulders. I can't say one decision he made was right and not going with his man for their first is criminal for a left back by trade. His shot at the end when he had two players available to him in better positions shows selfishness and I doubt endear him to his teammates."
"The changes would have worked if Garbutt had not messed up everything. Impossible to understand what his role was when he came on, he should have provided cover for Husband but he spent most of the time roaming around aimlessly, took on a stupid shot in those last seconds, which gave the ball to Charlton's right flank through our unprotected left back flank, and onto the cross and their equaliser. 2 points down the drain."

Doesn't look good - although obviously may be coincidental - when on one side our attacking loanee is substituted and his team then score twice and our defending loanee is brought on and they concede twice.

Anyone watch the match through and want to comment more fully?

The Colwyn Bay manager is saying after Griffiths got called up by England U20s we rushed through the temporary deal for Louis Gray as a replacement so he could play for them in their league game tomorrow
New loanee goalkeeper Louis Gray comes in for Russell Griffiths who is away with the England U20 squad in Germany.
Gray, has previously had a spell at Wrexham, and Seagulls manager Ash Hoskin commented: “Everton have been fantastic in fixing us up with Louis after Russell was called up by England, and we are very appreciative that a Premiership club like that has gone to the trouble they have to rush through the paperwork.”
