Why does it have to be a Top international manager? Silva isn't, we wanted him, Fonseca has nearly begged for a chance in England in an interview - I wouldn't exactly call him a top international manager.
Koeman was the 10th highest paid manager in the world, the entire world. I think it would be folly to presume that some managers from the continent wouldn't want an opportunity in the premier league on a percentage of what Koeman was on considering they could instantly be one of the top paid managers in Europe.
Thing is mate, and this is where everything falls down for me. Walsh's remit (even tho he is a scout) as DOF is to put a plan in place that if we sack a manager we have "profile" of who we go for next to fit in with the club. The board, Dof have failed miserably on this as its clear they dont know what they want, rumours of in house fighting and other [Poor language removed] going on proves that we haven't got a clue.
If we had a template of a manager in mind, how we want to play etc etc, it would be so much easier to narrow down and look to the continent. If we had a plan when we sacked Koeman we probably wouldn't be having the convo now.
The board have no direction or leadership and as such its all scatter gun and looks completely unprofessional.
For what its worth, Sam is meant to be getting £4m a year, thats just under what Zidane gets paid, what Emery gets paid and the same as Benitez. I know its all relative because we look like desperate fridges... but there is plenty of good managers who would jump through a lot of hoops for the opportunity in the premier league for that type of money.
