Everton reopen talks with Sam Allardyce

couldnt have played hoof ball at Sunderland with only Defoe upfront and they did batter us that game he was there and he got England playing alright.
Just trying to think of anything positive...

Mate, remove yourself emotionally from this and look at it objectively, you know our fans you know Goodison, what happens if we go the next 8 with 1 win and a draw, including a hammering at the pit, which given allardyce record initially at clubs is likely? He has once before worked at a place that went absolutely toxic on him - at Newcastle and they sacked him because their results got so bad they make our current form look positive.

I don't think any manager would instantly fix us mate, i'm not stupid, i think any manager coming in will need to do some serious adding in a couple of key positions in January - and i think that we need the injured players back - BUT i think many managers can do that in January, best we could hope for is a new manager bounce which gets a couple of decent results before the gashness of the team reasserts itself - we won't get a new bounce with Allrdyce - it's also something he doesn't ever give a team.

Will guarantee that a huge amount of the people calling for Allardyce will be already calling for his head come January if we go 4 points out of the next 8 games.

Hmmmm. Wold offer you the same advice here.

...i’m not saying he does. I’m not defending Allardyce, i’m just saying if we don’t change we’re definitely doomed. If Allardyce does come in we might still be doomed but we have a chance.

We have a chance with any decent to good manager mate if we backed them in January and we made sure they had the right attitude to tackle the situation

Bingo mate, basically we can't structure a decent side because whatever we try is undermined by individuals within the side being absolutely shocking and that spreads to the entire team, we need to try get by as best we can do until January - players returning will aid that and in january patch up those areas that are undermining the rest of the team.

Find it funny that people think Allardyce will come in and sure up this team instantly - yeah because this is his record at Sunderland after taking over

17 October 20159 West Bromwich Albion 1–0 Sunderland [show]West Bromwich
25 October 201510 Sunderland 3–0 Newcastle United [show]Sunderland
1 November 201511 Everton 6–2 Sunderland [show]Liverpool
7 November 201512 Sunderland 0–1 Southampton [show]Sunderland
23 November 201513 Crystal Palace 0–1 Sunderland [show]London
28 November 201514 Sunderland 2–0 Stoke City [show]Sunderland
5 December 201515 Arsenal 3–1 Sunderland [show]London
12 December 201516 Sunderland 0–1 Watford [show]Sunderland
19 December 201517 Chelsea 3–1 Sunderland [show]London
26 December 201518 Manchester City 4–1 Sunderland [show]Manchester
30 December 201519 Sunderland 0–1 Liverpool

First 11 games, 3 wins 8 losses - in 11 games - so 9 out of a possible 33 points, worse than we are by a decent way so far.

11 scored - 20 conceded.

Thats his form from early October until the January transfer window opened and he was able to make changes - so basically Allardyce was terrible at Sunderland until he could bring players in himself - there was no new manager bounce, no great tactical changes with a terrible squad that fixed things, what he did is exactly what any manager we brought in could do - he bought players to fix problems - short term in all cases for Sunderland btw.

Oh for context here is his first games in charge of Palace as well

201618 Watford 1–1 Crystal Palace [show]Watford
1 January 201719 Arsenal 2–0 Crystal Palace [show]Holloway
3 January 201720 Crystal Palace 1–2 Swansea City [show]Selhurst
14 January 201721 West Ham United 3–0 Crystal Palace [show]Stratford
21 January 201722 Crystal Palace 0–1 Everton [show]Selhurst
31 January 201723 AFC Bournemouth 0–2 Crystal Palace [show]Bournemouth
4 February 201724 Crystal Palace 0–4 Sunderland [show]Selhurst
11 February 201725 Stoke City 1–0 Crystal Palace

First 8 games, 1 win, 1 draw, 6 losses - so 4 points out of a possible 24 - again massively worse than our current ppg totals.

Scored 4 goals, conceded 14 goals.

Could also show his last 12 games in charge of the biggest club he's managed before us, but that would make very very grim reading indeed.

@mikeh72 , @Eggs

We are in deep, deep trouble....

I find it staggering that some people can say we’re not doing ‘that badly’. This is the worst Everton team I’ve witnessed in my 29 years.

I don't know that anybody is saying we arem't doing that badly. We are a complete mess.

Lets face it the opinion of all fans to this horrible possibility is influenced greatly by whether or not you think we are in a relegation battle.

I don't think we are. 13 games in. 3 teams worse off than us. Another few within 2 points of us. And this is whilst we are without a manager and looking worse than we have in I dunno how long. How bad must those other teams be?!

I don't think this needs the ill-advised panic appointment of that corrupt arrogant oaf.

Easier to say than do mate obviously ;)

On pure statistics and history of him as a manager, he is one that takes time to get any results through, you honestly think this supporter base (even ones backing him now) will give him a period of 8-12 games where we see no significant improvement in terms of results and indeed little in performances?

We have a chance with any decent to good manager mate if we backed them in January and we made sure they had the right attitude to tackle the situation

..I don’t disagree and can only assume the Board can’t agree on a ‘decent’ manager who is available.

Be interesting who is for and who is against this appointment from a Board perspective.

To be fair mate you've just said "I don't think anyone is saying we're not doing that badly" followed by "I don't think we're in a relegation battle". Utter fantasy island stuff.

Mate you know what if did a poll outside goodison and I bet it's more against than for to have to this utter joke as manager.

I'm 98% sure Big Sam is Steve Walsh. This will be confirmed if Shakespeare comes too.

Feels like Kenwright couldn't get his way with Dyche, Moshiri couldn't get his way with Silva, so they've gone to the middle man and ended up with this.
