Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

I'd rather give Dixon a chance, than get another ageing player who would want big wages to cover for our other ageing players on big wages. Free transfer or not.
I love Roman as much as the next guy, heck we have the same name but I have no idea who he is

There is just no way he gets given a chance in the prem with his inexperience

You have people like Onyango on their 20th loan in 5 seasons

For Roman to breakthrough and seal that right back spot he has to be special

Very special

How will we find out though if he doesn't play?

First game was Sligo which he played. Looked way off the pace against Salford. Was dreadful against Coventry then missed the next game (Preston away) injured. Not sure if he played against Motherwell but again injured today.
Another sentimental contract. If we wanted his experience in the dressing room we should have made him a junior coach with a corresponding salary.

Should have retired yonks ago, unless he's on massively reduced wages (amongst lowest in the squad) then it was an outrageous decision to extend his contract yet again. Agree on he should have been made part of the coaching staff if they wanted to keep him in and around the dressing room.

I think I’m pretty balanced and reacting to people being over positive. The facts remain ndaiye and lindstrom coming of the back of poor seasons in weaker leagues, that’s not negative, they’re facts, that’s the reason theyre now at Everton. O’Brien
Couldn’t get a kick at palace at 20 and was sent out on loan, ok he was young but still Branthwaite was getting the odd game for us as a teenager as was holgate. And Godfrey is different as he’s mainly played as a full back.

Onana is a regular in a top 10 nation’s midfield, not his fault he plays under a manager who by passes the midfield, he just joined a champions league club and we’ve made nearly 60% profit, so must have done something right.

I hope they’re all a success, but I think some fans are expecting miracles

Fair enough but O’brien has followed a sinilar path to Branthwaite so he may prove to be a very shrewd signing at 16m. Obviously time will tell and if he manages to cement a place in the first team eventually he will be a very successful purchase.

The others you mentioned may have not had the best of seasons last year but we have had some great signings that have similar stories and at the prices we have paid I’m confident they are not very likely to be “massive mistakes “ like bolasie , tuson , walcott, Morgan and many more.

But let’s be honest for them to contribute more attacking wise than doucs and Harrison will not be hard and I’m optimistic that they will not weaken us and are more than likely going to improve us going forward .

Again time will tell

….yep, he has to be good enough. We know he’s a terrific runner blessed with great pace and Dyche has given him game time in pre-season so Dyche must think he has something.

If we don’t sign a RB, I’d like him to stay and not go on loan. It’s a long old season, Coleman will struggle with fitness and Dixon might just bridge the gap. I fully understand the ‘send him on loan’ shouts, that would be more of a ‘make or break’ scenario, fingers crossed it works if that happens.

I think Garner could play right back. For me hes not a central midfielder although good footballer. He doesnt drive forward with the ball. Good at set pieces but you need more dynamism to be a premier league mid.

I think all three of Lindstrom, Ndiaye and O'Brien are very very good pickups for the price, my only worry over two is that we have what to all intents and purposes seems to be a very tactically inflexible manager whose loathe to change up formation and starting personnel.

Both had poor seasons last due to being shoehorned into positions that just aren't the ones they play great, the worry is dyche will repeat that mistake (Lindstrom is not a winger, neither us Ndiaye)

Still have this slight nagging feeling he will show horn O'Brien in at right back when Jarrod is fit as well.
