Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

Not a touchline winger but like they had yesterday brighton would love a winger who has that lace to beat a man. Be direct and pace, all yeaterday was harrison slowing the game down cutting in mcneil not much of anything. That and well even put a first time cross in
Which is why it’s baffling neither Lindstrom on Ndiaye were given the opportunity

Everyone was not shocked when we witnessed the output of our attacking options. We’ve had them for 2/3 years now, they do nothing except act as another line of defence

With the players we have fit 352

I figure the below would be us at full strength.

Ive not seen Lindstrom play and I don't think he's a winger so I've put Ndiaye there.

Tim looked alright but likely we'll see Doucoure drop deeper.

But the below. It doesn't bode well. There's no pace or ability to progress play (Gnonto please!) so it's deep, with direct balls.

Calvert Lewin

Ndiaye

Harrison McNeil

Garner Tim

Mykolenko Branthwaite Tarkowski Coleman

Pickford.

I don't think so personally.

Because a "progressive" coach, any hipster coach we can name, still needs a team with some pace and ability in the final third and this team has none of it.

All these teams below are better than us, and none earned more points than Dyche last season;

There's a reason why the bookies have us tipped again to be right down there.

Yes and some of that is bad recruitment and some of it is a lack of finances. I think Dyche and KT both are to blame as you can get pace even on a budget but they choose not to or don't sort the full back situation, which strikes me very much as Dyche saying its ok we can get by Youngy/Coleman there. I get cutting your cloth and being pragmatic and in our financial situation it probably is wise but at times I think Dyche tactics actually bring the team down to a poor level. A more progressive coach plays Patterson or Dixon. Then we have a solid base and the midfield can be pieced together with Ndiaye and Lindstom more involved and Mcneil dropped if he wasn't performing. Also Dom would be sold for that pace and more midfield vision. While there are big issues I do think there is a bit more to this squad you seem to have written off Ndiaye and Lindstrom without seeing them start a PL game. Ultimately I am not saying if Silva or a Glassner had this squad we would be top ten but we would certainly be easier on the eye and probably around lower midtable because they would have a plan b for breaking down teams at home. Maybe we still will be but it will be another almighty scrap with the tactics and clear lack of goals and pace wr have.

I don’t think the squad is manageable. We don’t have PL quality at RB or LB. We only have 3 PL quality CB. CM we are thin. And attacking, well bugger me.

We need to find two good loans, a biggish purchase and kids to flourish.

We do not have a PL strength squad
Mykolenko is inconsistent, however I'd refute that he isn't PL quality. Is he at the lower end of the spectrum? Yes, but it is what it is.

The lack of cover is the issue, where I think Godfrey's versatility did a job. The right back situation is worrying too, with Coleman needing replacing.

In terms of defence, Tarks, Branwaithe and O'Brien should be enough if you then factor in Keane as a cautious backup* - it's far from a terrible defence.

But we can go through all the positions... the depth is a worry, like I said. The deeper issue, nevertheless, is how you utilise the squad and make decisions.

Is the squad great? No. Is the most being made of the squad? Equally, no.

*Again, Godfrey's versatility will be missed.

I sort of agree. We are an injury away from pushing either crap or square pegs into round hols in EVERY position

Maybe the team is also VERY bad.

Look at it;

Put any hipster manager you want in.

Put Ndiaye and Lindstrom in.

Put Branthwaite in.

Hope we don't get ANY injuries.

And it's still crap.

Now say we don't have to play that formation and we had a manager who played this.

Sheff Utd fans told me he's best central. Also;

View attachment 269420

"He could either play as a striker, supporting striker, winger on either flanks, or behind the striker as a 10. However, the position we have seen Ndiaye the most is in the central areas either as a centre-forward in a 4-3-3 or a centre-forward in a two man strike partnership. His pace and his quick feet is largely seen as a problem solving tool in attack. " [Link]

This fella reckons Lindstrom is also best central. He said the same to the BBC.

Never seen either play apart from NDiaye yesterday so no clue.

I'm going off the heat maps at Sheffield united and at Frankfurt mate both showed they operate in the area between FB and CB but in different sides of the pitch.
