Who exactly can we buy for cheaper to replace him? We are being quoted £30m for Championship and other really unproven players with unimpressive records.

I don’t know anything about the kid but there was some paper talk about our interest in Octavian Popescu from FCSB, meant to be a big talent. Plays Gordon’s position. I don’t know if that was nonsense or if it’s cooled but whether it’s him or someone else but it may well be we have someone like that lined up who we think is a better prospect and would leave us change.

I know it's not an easy task as they're on exorbitant wages but the focus should be on selling garbage players that offer nothing to the squad not promising players

If we have to generate more funds to placate the PL, then it has to be so I guess but if that's not the case, then we absolutely should not be looking to sell Gordon or DCL on top of Richy. Things are bad enough as it is. We have to have some continuity amongst our better players.

It has to be a rebuild, but done methodically and progressively. This is too risky.

Really interesting that Newcastle have seemingly pitched an offer at exactly the point where half the fans say haha, no chance, and half would snap their hands off. Maybe they’ve just done it to mess with our fanbase.
