Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

some links today to Charles De Ketelaere who is a LW/CF, only 21 from Belgium, bit of a "wonderkid" though AC Milan are supposed to be interested as well. I would imagine his club in Belgium would want huge money for him, so I cant see it, but you never know.

Also Kyle Walker-Peters linked as well, I think he is decent and probably better than our current options.

Also caughtoffside claiming we are trying to swap Andre Gomes for Adrian Rabiot. If Kevin Thelwell pull that off, I will pay for a statue of him myself!

Last summer was an anomaly . We have never done that before and we will not be so stupid this time. Unfortunately, we will have to be clever this summer, but it will happen.
As for being better than last season... we will not be bottom 3 come April/may.
Last summer was not an anomaly, it was the result of half a decade's worth of completely negligent compliance with Premier League rules and the consequence of truly awful decisions in the transfer market. Nobody knows, even with the Richarlison sale, how badly we are still impacted by P+S rules. The fact that it's now obvious that we had to get Richy out before July 1st to get him on last year's books is evidence that we still have a major problem.

Why are you so sure that we'll be clever this summer? We still have Moshiri in situ, who is a complete idiot and we have a Board not fit for purpose.

We are waiting for prices to drop for certain targets I reckon one of the likes of Broja, Dennis, MGW, whoever we are going at DM. Then will add a few loans later on. It's risky though we need at least a few weeks of preseason with new additions. We could go into the first game with one or two that's it, then waiting till the end of August. Classic Everton.

It's a tired line that often gets trotted out along with bad first touch and can't finish mate.

almost like some people don't like the lad on a few different levels none footy related.
It baffles me.

I get the sensible shouts, his fitness is a concern, he did score in patches, they are minor concerns.

But I dont understand how people cant see that as a number 9 hes great, hold up play, winning headers, leading the line, how people can fault that I dont know.

Hshahahaha yes because JUVENTUS FOOTBALL CLUB would be able to find a use for Andre Gomes.

Things are frustrating because pre-season is underway and it feels like wasted time we could be bedding in new signings but there can be all sorts of reasons for slow progress. Eriksen dragging his heels on a decision being one example: if we had an offer in for him we couldn't really advance other midfield signings in case he chose us. Likewise like you say we are probably waiting on Chelsea's decision on who is available. In other cases where there isn't much competition (eg Dennis) we may just be trying to drive a hard bargain. Or we may simply be working on other deals quietly that will show up out of the blue. Not at panic stations yet.
At least if it is Chelsea players he knows what he's getting and what they can do in the squad. Time will tell.

Jack Wilshere. Reckon we could get something out of him

Impeccable timing.

Exactly I think his only glaring fault when fit is his lack of one on one clinicalness on a break otherwise hes a pretty complete number 9

We are shopping in the bargain bin when bargains are hard to come by.

ST: We probably want Broja and had hoped to loan with an option to buy. Problem is other clubs are willing to pay cash now. Hence the links to Bayo for 12M

Wing: Lewis Potter would have been a good shout at 10-15, but Hull wants 20 wouldn't be surprised if they want it on the front end

CM: Erikson on a free would have been ideal. That busts and we pivot to Gibbs White, not counting on Wolves wanting an absurd 25M for a player that should be ~15M

DM: France is a good place to find young talent and that Onana fits the bill. Trouble is Lille want 30M and judging by the Botman saga with the barcodes are a pain to deal with.

CB: Tarkowski on a free came off. Think he will be a very good signing. You can see how our defense benefits when we had a solid CB in the lineup (Mina on the rare occasions he was healthy)

Market is making the challenge of fixing our crappy squad even more challenging. Bottom line, it is a bad time to be skint. Plus, to the surprise of nobody, no clubs want our highly paid crap players.
