Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

The context is that when you have a player smack in the middle of the team who can't pass and who can't position himself correctly you are constantly playing with a hole. And even if that player scores sometimes or has the odd game where he gets a lot of tackles in that hole is still a problem every time out and you've got to work around it. You're inherently limited.
Doucoure isn't in the team to be a pivot or at least he doesn't suit that role for me.

Its less than ideal, even more so coming off last season.

But, my Everton glass remains half full, I know, lunatic mate.

Any players we sign between now and September, we are signing them for ideally a few years, not the month of August, we simply have to trust in Lampard and Mr Thelwall. What will be, will be.
I get what you are saying and its very level headed the issue is we have a glaring hole in the middle of the field and a lack of creativity.

I think we're deficient in key elements though we lack creativity, someone to control the midfield and even solidify the back line. We don't have a proper set piece taker or someone to bang in crosses for England's number nine. it feels pretty dire without some key additions. Our starting lineup was decent under Carlo then the generalissimo booted all the creativity away but the midfield has been shambolic for years
If I didnt think we would make signings I would be quite concerned, truthfully, its not all unicorns here, creativity is a major issue and its something we need to attempt to address.

Cavani & Dzeko. Just imagine how pacy our frontline would be. Then add Rondon from the bench, running the opposition defence ragged...
Is he supposed to have lost his pace now? Didn't see much of him last season, but he still looked sharp before then.

Not that we really lack for pace going forward (apart from Rondon, but hopefully he won't feature much if at all). I'd say quality on the ball is a bigger issue.

I just want to watch one game where the midfield doesn't get completely bypassed or we make three hundred side passes
Same that new number six is vital I just can't see anyone in that squad who can do it, Allan doesn't have the legs or discipline. Davies doesn't have the physicality, Gomes is proven to not to be up to the speed of the league and Gbamin is physically unproven. Then you are down to Warrington. The way the squad is right now without a six we are playing 343 against Chelsea. But if we really want to move the team on we need that midfielder.

I understand that people think Doucoure isn't the worst player they've ever seen and that I do so some people will find that ridiculous for me to say and I don't care. He's the worst Everton player I've ever seen that was actually supposed to be something for us like I said earlier. So no he wasn't as bad as Martina or Alcaraz but we didn't sign them to do anything so who really cares?

I just think he's really really awful, he's awful in the same way Sigurdsson was awful in that his effect is worse than just being bad at his position because what you can reasonably do in a system gets wrecked by having a black hole dumped into it for periods of play. And those players will sometimes do ok and you think that they aren't that awful but it ignores how limited you are from the start by their awfulness. That's why I'd probably put Sigurdsson right there with Doucoure despite the 14 goals or whatever. Gomes is in there too.
So why don’t you obsess about Gomes or sigs (and never have)? Your douc thing is ex-girlfriend level

@Noisy noise annoys....listen no matter how much you disagree with someone's opinion.... Ultimately its their opinion. Me and you have butted heads in the past but come through the other side.

Don't get me wrong I think @TheBigIguana chats absolute garbage half the time but at least he sticks to his guns..he might think the same about us but I appreciate the people on here who get heavy fire but don't bow to the mob....

As a fan base we have a awful habit of speaking about players that have left . There gone . Like the snows of last winter !! Then we have pages speaking about other clubs and how strong there squads are . I genuinely believe we have a strong 11/13 players . We aren’t winning anything this season but we also might surprise a few on here . It doesn’t all necessarily have to be doom and gloom all the time . Maybe me just been naive but with Thelwell and Lampard can honestly see small shoots of optimism.I hope Lampard gets the full season and even longer and when we go through that patch whereby we don’t win for a number of games that Moshiri and co hold fire and let him carry on
