Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

well they're actively trying to get rid of gomes everyone knows that and i'm sure the rest too apart from Davies.
so you're pretty much complaining over nothing.
We need them to do it, not just try. Its results that matter not words or intentions

We've been abysmal at selling players for years. The reds have been getting good money for lads who have barely played and we can barely get a couple of million for a player

Dennis seems to be more in the Richarlison mould, being a left winger who also can play as a centre forward. Broja from what I’ve seen is pure striker (please correct if wrong?)
Dennis being the presumably cheap, more available, suitable replacement surely is rhe no-brainer here? I like Broja and of course if possible, both would be great but I hate the idea that we’re putting everything on hold for Tuchal to make his mind up on if Broja/Gallagher are gonna be in the mix. He’s bang within rights to take his time, they’re his players. Tunnel vision this

Several players to be honest. There's only about 6 or 7 I'd be reluctant to lose

Obvious ones are Gomes, Mina, Allan, Rondon, Davies, and anyone else with only 1 year left on a contract.
That's a good list - Allan and Mina may have interest from moneyed clubs but Gomes, Rondon would probably mean some sort of net loss to us (ie. we pay some of their wages).

Davies...I assume he doesn't cost us much for a squad player.

Funnily enough, that is what happened with Chelsea and Zouma - we waited and waited and.....didn't get him so the squad got worse.

I guess that was Lampard in charge at the time.

Sometimes, you've got to go full Koeman.

No locker, no squad number, no involvement with the first team. You don't play for Everton anymore. Tell your agent to find you a new club.

I just can’t wrap my head around it! 3 weeks left and we’re being lead down a path that could seriously put us in the crap if Tuchal turns round and says ‘nah’
Broja favours West Ham too! He doesn’t want to come here if they have an offer on the table!
Why do we get this tunnel vision every time we always get burned. Focus on Dennis, MGW and that Belgian lad. Shift some players if possible and once done, see what’s happening with the Chelsea situation as it’s not going to be resolved until their pre season is over.
Not that simple I fully understand but the order makes so much more sense surely?

When our backup is Rondon and DCL has massive fitness concerns, then it kind of is imho.

Now that Richy’s gone anyway.
When our midfield 3 (if we play a 4-3-3) is our midfield 3 I would say 3 starting midfielders are the priority.

Not saying we don’t need another forward …

I'm an English teacher mate, so always interested in seeing words and specifically how they are used, Lampard in that interview (given he's very intelligent and articulate) chooses sone strange ones,

That's a question for the club and him
Hope 'we' get the right solution
Hope 'we' get the best solution for both

all framed in the framework of being ex Chelsea himself but the wording is odd using the personal subject pronoun 'we' from the current Everton manager.

The rest in large part sounds like an open letter to the player rather than a normal interview type response you'd expect.

Just a very very strange read really.
As a lawyer ( retired ) reading that article I take a different view, particularly given the phrase ...."So I hope we get the best solution for both.”

Reading between the lines ( he talks of Pulisic needing games and that he ( Lampard ) knows how he plays ) it seems to me that Everton have made a proposal to take him on loan and that that is why " we get the best solution for both "

When Lampard talks of " we" I don't think he is referring to himself and Chelsea but Everton and himself.

Of course , I could be wrong lol

When I look at the positions we need to strengthen I can't see how we could afford to sign Broja. From what I have seen of him he would be in direct competition with DCL and will not join us to sit on a bench when DCL is fit.

The only way I could explain us signing him is if DCL has been promised that he will be the big sale next summer.. or even January... and Broja would be coming in knowing that he was going to be the main striker... but, I just don't see it happening.

I'm not a Kenwright hater but it is the kind of brinkmanship we were involved in all the time during the Moyes years - and I assume that was mostly Bill.
