Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

The Barkley and Cornet rumours I would be in favour of. When we were playing our best football post Moyes it was with players who could run with the ball and attack defenders and space (Lukaku, Mirallas, Del, Barkley etc etc.). This team is almost devoid of any player that can do that or does that. Cornet and Barkley do and can. I wouldn't actively be pursuing Barkley but if he came in I wouldn't be disappointed.

Tbh Id be disappointed with Frank if this happens, Id rather see him given a chance here.
Genuinely?
If he barely got any minutes last season, were do you think the opportunity's for minutes will come from this term?

The lad needs to play football, week in week out, not just 10 minutes every couple of months when we have a few injuries

We need to stop thinking about keeping our 18/19/20 year olds here as 3rd choice players for a position 'incase' we have a few injuries, as even when that happens, we tend to play a more experienced guy from a different position instead of a kid (e.g Coleman at centre back, Holgate at right back or centre mid, Godfrey at left back etc)

It's nothing to do with "playing youth" but we have no striker backup (yet) so he should be going nowhere until we get some. We gave Gordon a chance so why not Dobbin.
Anthony Gordon had made 32 appearances for us & Preston (irrelevant of performance) before last season, so he was more than likely seen as more experienced than Dobbin to get his chance.
Lewis Dobbin has played 44 minutes of mens football!
