Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Was there ever a definitive statement put out about our financial arrangement with the Premier League? Or was everything just based on hearsay and journo scoops?

Maybe if the club published the details of our defacto IVA - it might help the fans to understand why we aren't spending (or willing) to spend any money

Not sure why we'd make a statement on that. Commercially sensitive information that would be of interest to competitors

Done well for Real Sociedad tbf, surprised they let him go (don't know if there's more to it or he just didn't want to sign a new deal).

Wouldn't be high on the list like but he's not the player that flopped after his first breakthrough at United, at least.
Watched some of their games over the last two seasons and he never stood out for anything other than his hair colour.

Don’t know why we’re still getting linked with centre backs - it’s the last area we need to focus on.

Forget centre backs, unless we shift some of our useless midfield and seriously upgrade centre mid and forward options we’re screwed!
I don't think we even needed tarkowski. He's very similar to Michael keane and I would imagine tarkowski will experience the same troubles Keane has if the defence plays a high line which Burnley never do.

We should be looking at Spurs' business if we are genuinely unable to spend this summer. They got Romero & Kulusevski on long term loans with obligations to buy - proof that you can get decent players without paying upfront.

While I understand what you're saying; do you really think we have a negotiator like Levy doing our business for us? We've got someone who seems more interested in Spurs' cast-offs...

Difference is, Spurs know they can afford to meet the obligations a year down the line (they could probably meet them upfront, but kudos to Levy for getting try before you buy deals). Depending on our player sales/releases over the next 12 months, it's not unreasonable to say we'd be in a similar situation this time next summer, but any money we might have is locked to the obligations whether we want them or not.

I believe they got 18 month & 2 year loans - which in our case should be enough to clear the years of our highest losses. But yeah, I wouldn't trust our scouts to pick the right players.
