How long are we going to keep going on about 500 million? We not counting the sales of Lukaku Stones Barkley Gueye and now Richarlison against that figure? Of course we could have spent money better but just because we spent some money in some windows a few years ago doesn’t mean that we should be able to survive losing key players right down the spine of the team for a whole season.

Take Van Dijk Fabinho Salah out of Liverpool

Militao Modric Benzema from Madrid

Lewandowski Kimmich Hernandez from Bayern

They’d replace them but they’d have a huge drop off in performance. They’re some of the richest clubs in the world.

It’s utterly ludicrous to suggest that if Palace lost the spine of their team like Everton did last season that they wouldn’t be negatively affected.
Did we spend £500m

Yes

The end

Oh and lol for saying Doucoure and DCL have the same impact to those players

Mismanagement. Maybe relegation is what we need.. a fresh restart and get rid of lampard and the rest of the deadwood.
I know I’m quick to jump the gun on lampard but I don’t think he’s a good manager. Passion isn’t enough to win games..
Relegation isn't a restart. It's potentially life threatening. We're losing 1-2m a week with PL income. Dropping into the championship with lower income and more aggressive P/S rules could see us become Derby mark II

No I'm with you. The only problem is the money is so bad we might not be able to go down. Last season apparently didn't serve as a wake up call.

If you're able to project out a few years it was pretty obvious he was going to move on. That or he was going to not be good enough. Either way you'd need a replacement.
All of our players are gone in four years. A strategy is definitely needed, but in 2020 we wer3 banned from signing youngsters and didn’t have a functioning midfield. Buying replacements for Richarlison was just not on our agenda.

A competently run club would have had some 21 year old signed up sometime in the last few years as the succession plan. We're lucky Gordon has come through or we'd be truly screwed.

I think it has, but the club appears to be so heavily constrained in terms of finances that we're now having to play it safe. It's about balancing the risk.

I'm still confident that we'll bring some names in before the window closes although whether it'll be enough in terms of quality and quantity is the concern.

We can't recklessly spend to help with suvival as spending may lead to points deductions and as a result dint our chances of survival.
