Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

We managed to spend the Digne money fast

surely the financials aren't so bad we can't spend the Richarlison fee
I firmly believe that the vast majority of the Richarlison fee is indeed gone, applied to last season's financials to get our FFP books in some kind of order. Lucky if we have 20 mil to spend. Here is how I see it playing out:

- We get Cornet over the line which "replaces" Richarlison"
- We bring in a defensive midfielder on loan
- We bring in one other random either on loan or for 4 to 5 mil., maybe someone hungry from the Championship. That's it, beyond having added Tark.

Then we hope for the good health of DCL, Mina and others, further improvement from Gordon (maybe a few more goals), some contribution from the younger lads, a bit of magic from Frank and playing some formation that does not see us overrun in the midfield. Another tough season ahead.

The worrying thing is that we are also running out of ‘assets’ to sell moving forward.

Only DCL, Gordon, Pickford and possibly Godfrey would bring in any decent money.

Desperate times. It’s unbelievable really how Moshiri and the board have managed things so badly.

Didn’t we pay close to £30m for Godfrey? Not a chance has he gone up in value. Totally average player.

We’re in trouble here.

All very well waiting towards the end of the market but we will have sacrificed available points. Points that are precious to an awful squad who mustered very little last season.

Seems like they don’t have a clue what they are doing. This includes thelwell.
The board definitely don’t, that’s the big reason why Thelwell is apparently struggling to get deals over the line because of how financially hampered we are

The thing is, Cornet doesn’t replace richarlison - he’ll fill the same space on the pitch but they’re worlds apart, worlds. Much like last summer people saying Gray and Townsend would replace siggi and James.

We’re downgrading quality time and again - that’s not going to make us better. I realise it’s the position we’ve put ourselves in but I’m not going to kid myself, as much as the club will spin it, that there is any kind of positive plan for the season ahead. It’s sheer survival mode, cross fingers and pray stuff - if the club were being honest with us.

Idrissa Gana on loan would be perfectly acceptable as the DM. He's got a year left on his contract at PSG and they want him gone. If he was younger I'd say put in a bid for him but at 32 (33 in September) I don't see the point in paying a fee. Just cover some of his wage, and try to shift Gomes to recoup the outlay.

Then get Knight from Derby. We can surely afford him. Slot him in to CM.

Then get MGW as the actual money signing. Stick him wide right.

Total outlay: less than £40m, with not even half of it up front.

Week 1 lineup (before any further loans) would then be:

Pickford

Patterson - Mina - Tarkowski - Mykolenko

Iwobi - Gana - Knight

MGW - DCL - Gordon

Begovic
Coleman
Holgate
Godfrey
Allan
Doucoure
Davies
Gray
Any forward who isn't Rondon

Please can someone tell me under the financial rules when could we spend proper money on players again, can't get my head around how it works
When we vastly increase our revenue, either by gaining entry to Europe, finishing just outside the European places, whilst playing attractive football, going long in Cup comps, gaining positive media coverage due to an astute transfer policy or moving into Bramley-Moore and not paying huge interest on paying for it.

TLDR
Never.

2 loans + 3 perms = 5 players

Gilmour loan
Cornet - 18 mil
Broja - 35 mil
Barkley - free
Second loan - worst case scenario Winks

What’s a loan fee these days 1-2 mil?

So that’s 4 mil on loans, let’s say 10 mil up front for cornet and 15 mil up front for Broja that’s 29 mil on 5 players with some change left over to try and sort a deal for MGW or Colwill

Easy peasy
That's awful mate

Just can't understand, right just say we never bought another player for next 2 seasons would we be able to splash money about then

We dont bring enough money in to splash out on players.

The majority of our signings have been possible due to Moshiri investing 30m a season into the business via loans, which is the max the rules allow.

Then there was the USM funding, which bumped up our revenue a bit.

So in order to buy players and keep the lights on we need to sell Richarlison, Lukaku, Stones, Gana AND we also need to increase our revenue or lower our wage bill.

So IMO if we want to splash out on players, we need to increase our revenue, cos our wage bill, is probably where it should be for a club that WANTS to finish 7th or above.
