If they do bid (and right now EFC are 100% adamant they have not despite the reports) we have to play hardball and get every £ possible because it is our single best opportunity to totally reset our Finances and reshape our squad.

Agreed that we need to extract every copper from them.

Richie wouldn't have extended though. He wanted out a year ago because he wanted to play in champs league. But he gave us a year after we let him go the Olympics.

The fact remains though, had we sold Gordon on day one of the window instead of Richarlison then we'd currently be financially more secure even presuming we still signed Tarkowski, Vinagre, McNeil, Onana and Coady.

That's the point I'm making: Gordon is pure profit, whereas Richie was not. Plus Gordon will be easier to replace.

I mean are you not ignoring the fact 2-3 of those 7 are currently injured and 1 of those 7 definitely isn’t up to PL standard right now (Welch).

2 of those are long term injured, one on loan, and one very young. Definitely not in a position to sell someone in the short term without adding a replacement, especially since we start with 3 defenders.

3 currently are unavailable to us. One of which isn't here all season (and may still need further loans going forward to get to the right level), another rarely stays fit. And Welch is very young and is while included in the squad, I imagine will need loans like branthwaite to get ready for this level.

Bringing in another 23/24 year old, (considering coady is also a loan and may not be here next season) wouldn't be a bad thing for me.

…and Coleman/Mykolenko are stronger options than Keane in a back three.

Also, i listed 7 players including Branthwaite (who i said was on loan) but not Welch (who i said is part of the squad).

If we have 7 or 8 at the moment, no matter if we have several injuries/loans we cant simply continue buying centre backs without sales.

Soon we'd have an entire outfield 10 centre backs if we keep adding.

One of them's not even on the team this year. It's a bizarre take.

Do we own the player? Yes we do.

We cant continue signing centre backs.

Loans maybe but not permanent deals without sales.

I'd do that deal on a 3 year contract + a 1 year option for anything under £15mil.

£35m for Gallagher is mad. Same with Gibbs-White for £40m
