What is Zinchenko going to be more effective at in an Everton shirt than McNeil ?

McNeil can carry the ball forward consistently, is an effective passer and also strong defensively.

I rate Zinchenko but im not sure why he'd be a more effective player than McNeil.

Because mate he's a position we actually need more and a far far better player.

Which do we need more, a midfielder who can dictate play, pass, create chances or a winger whose one paced and doesn't score.

….its a highly specialised position that deep sitting central midfielder. It doesn’t require lots of energy, it requires lots of discipline. Lee Carsley was brilliant at it, even in the latter stages of his career he was able to play most games.

Fellaini struggled with it because he couldn’t stay in the areas he was guarding. I remember Lee Cattermole at Sunderland saying how difficult it was not getting drawn into wider areas of the pitch. Discipline.

Gilmour ?

I was under the assumption that the comparisons meant Zinchenko on the wing.

Yup I think we could afford Zinchenko, think the fee in full would be 30m but would be structured to get around FPP issues - think most of our fees will try to do that going forward (Dele was the setter for that model I think).

Would City accept 15
I think most deals are done that way now. Low up front fee with installments every year. It ensures the buying team are more likely to make payments and the selling team have a constant stream of money coming in.

Been that way for a while now hasn't it.

The installments thing makes no difference to FFP though

If you buy a player for £25m on a 5 year contract, it doesn't matter if you pay it all in one go or if you pay on the drip, the value is spread over the length of his contract so he costs £5m per year on the books

The Alli one is different because the payments aren't guaranteed

Zinchenko makes so much sense. He will come into the midfield and, looks like he does have that side to his game from afar (not an expert) but what is also REALLY important is LB cover as we have zero now that JJK is out

I know right...usually is when its Everton ;)

Then I dont believe youve watched much of Dennis :p

No ones saying McNeil is a £30mil player this summer...hes been linked at £15mil.

Ive posted the very same thing myself.

Hes not played regularly in the premier league at left back let alone centre mid.

We dont know how he'll do there for City let alone Everton.

Im optimistic but theres no real evidence to say one way or the other.

Youre quoting stats for goals...but not for ball carrying, passing or defensive work.

Id say from seeing him that McNeil oblitetates Cornet across all three.

Its a guess but im confident.

Well you made the comparison of circumstance...top teams didnt sign Grealish when he was relegated.

You want to finish 17th playing what you think is pretty football.

You dont rate quality players.

You dont understand squad building with low funds.

Aarons and McNeil both get into our squad and offer competition. Both young, English and good long term value at mid-table that can improve.

Id take both.

Hes not quick, but he is effective.
100’s of players can run with the ball it’s not something to hang your hat on .

And when I have watched he doesn’t glide across the pitch pinging passes everywhere. And he got one assist on that basis, gray, Gordon and Townsend are better passes.

And spurs wanted grealish and I think they went up to 25mil but villa knocked them back.

I'd have Gordon + McNeil competing on the left.

One left footer who can put in a great delivery and one right footer who can cut inside.

Two u23s who can rotate and provide options. If we sell Richarlison of course...I dont trust Gray, too selfish imo.

For me its a good move at £15mil...£20mil is the max.

Have those two on the left, sign KLP to compete with Dele in the centre and bring in a right sided attacker plus a centre forward as well.

KLP + McNeil + Johnson = £50-60mil and bring in a centre forward on loan with an option.

There should be Richarlison, Gray and Kean money to be used for rebuilding. I think we'd look decent across the front which is critical.

LF: Gordon / McNeil
AM: Dele / KLP
RF: Johnson / Dobbin
CF: DCL / Broja

A lot of potential there.

I think Levy decided not to do the deal.
Probably because villa turned there offers down . All about opinions but I can’t see how anyone would want the club to waste out limited funds on this Lad. Baffling

You can't have a midfield with absolutely no physicality in - so shouts of Gilmour Zinchenko etc in the same midfield is mad.

If Zinchenko does come in, he'd be a good addition, but then we absolutely need to add power to that area of the pitch too.

I'd like a midfield 3 of Zinchenko, Dacoure, Gallacher - think it'd work fantastic

Fair enough, I don't read enough into ffp or the PL profit and sustainability etc.

Godfrey can cover LB, but he's also shown he's not beyond an injury. I agree though that Zinchenko would be a good fit for us, as a midfielder who can cover LB, and we definitely need some versatility in the squad. An out and out DM would be great if we can find another Gana, but Zinchenko improves our squad without a doubt.

Apart from doucoure who’s terrible. One of the worst technical midfielders I’ve ever seen at Everton. Maybe we can seen him back to Watford for Sarr or Fulham may take him
