Everton Summer transfers 2021

I think all you’d see, especially from the bigger clubs, if it wasn’t relaxed would be PSG-style two year loans with massive obligations at the end of them. I had originally thought FFP was just for those in European competition but wherever it’s applied it is just not remotely fit for purpose. So open to exploitation, it’s unreal.

I don’t think we’ll curb our spending this summer out of any kind of FFP fear. I think we’ve picked some low-hanging fruit and ticked some squad boxes, and when we get back from the States we’ll likely start seeing a modest (akin to last year) level of outlay to address the glaring first XI issues. All safe in the knowledge that there’ll be some kind of mitigation in the offing at PL level.

I think overall mate the intention with FFP was good, I do think it put the breaks on things some what. It’s like the economy if the market gets overheated you raise the interest rates, that’s what FFP did, to be fair it redirected funds to better places. Problem is in football, it’s an autocratic system, like those systems it’s creates disparity in application. Uefa at the best of times can be influenced by big clubs and power brokers as ultimately the motivation is to keep the commercial merry go round and make money. The farcical sanctions for the scab clubs in regard to the Super League illustrates this. So as always we have an inequitable system that copperfastens the elite staying elite with FFP. Uefa are scrapping it now and coming up with something new. It will be another white wash, soft saped with good intentions.

Clubs have gotten around FFP at this stage, what Chelsea did was genius, basically created a puppy farm of young footballers and offset ffp by loan fees and eventually selling them they had 50 players on loan at one stage. Barcelona, hoovered up talent, sold it and stuck in small buy back agreements to manage costs, of late clubs have just swapped players - meaning no transfer fees appear on the books, then sell them on and make a profit. It’s a busted flush now.

FFP doesn’t concern us unless we get into Europe, we are subject to PL rules, they aren’t all that different really.

As for us and our summer window, it’s pretty simple either Moshiri funds additional losses or he doesn’t or else we sell a player for big money, though they are the ones you generally want to keep.

I would love to know what they are planning on doing.

If they truly cared it would be a salary cap across the board but we all know they'll do some con like salary cap per club based on turnover/revenue or something so Utd can keep paying players 300k a week whilst little old Everton get shafted.

Hard to know mate, some serious dynamics at play, City sprung them and they will be reeling, the top clubs have found a way around it now, while they got a serious shot across the bow with the super league.

My guess is they will sit back for a few years, let a lot slide, wait till Covid is over, when things begin to heat up again in the market they will come up with something. The same cycle will happen again though. The clubs these days can afford to pay people who are clever then Uefa.

Mods I’m sure you’re busy having lives and not concerning yourself with trivial nonsense… but could any of you be a dear and capitalise the T in the thread title. My OCD is going crazy with more pain than seeing Everton sign Andros Townsend

FFP was a result of UEFA giving into the greediest clubs. Clubs like United, Madrid, etc. wanted to have the ability to still outspend everyone without having the possibility of anymore PSGs or Citys popping up to challenge them. It was never meant to make football fair. Frankly I'd love UEFA to put a salary cap on its competitions. Everyone would have to follow it because what's the point of spending more than they allow if winning doesn't get you CL? It's kind of an easy fix if they want to do it but they don't because they don't actually want fairness.

Depends what we are looking for in a forward tbh, Hwang is more of a creative second striker type than an out and out goal scorer.
Yeah I see that I just don't think Rondon is good enough not even average stats PL wise and 31, no don't see it. He would be one of those players we would try to move on next year.

As for the squad I get the idea of deepening the squad and cutting costs by moving high earners like Bernard on. It makes sense and in some ways I get it, but adding to players who aren't good enough to take us forward like Townsend and Rondon isn't a sustainable plan. Gray I like its shrewd. However saying that if it allows us to add more quality elsewhere by moving high earners who aren't contributing much and getting a few solid PL players in and filling the key positions RB, CM and RW it may work out overall but let's see if Townsend is starting every week its not worked.

Honestly not sure what else Rondon brings that we don't already have with someone like Tosun
Better hair

His record isn’t too bad to be fair.

Wouldn’t have a big issue with Rondon as another option as a plan B/C. Obviously not as good but very much. Giroud type who would allow you to be more flexible in a game. Won’t ever bag 20/25 but could allow others to flourish.
