Don't be. We have signed two players, on the verge of signing another one, and then we might spend some money on another two.

Rondon makes sense even if I'm not particularly keen on having him here myself. He's played for Benitez a lot so would hopefully settle in quickly. We can't sell Tosun as he is out for another few months at least with his busted knee and then he is out of contract next summer.

Then we have Kean and who knows what will happen with him. PSG have already spent big on Hakimi and added Donnarumma, Ramos and Wijnaldum who will all be on massive wages. They also just signed Neymar to a big new contract and will be trying to do the same with Mbappe.

Might be a case of waiting to see if they can move on a few of their squad players before they entertain buying Kean. Only caveat being the uncertainty over FFP and the fact they have unlimited funds in theory.

But yeah, I can see why someone like Rondon would appeal on a short term deal given he will likely be on reasonable wages and won't have much expectation of playing.

Rondon was very good for Newcastle tbh.

Again a case of looking at someone's name/reputation rather than what they would bring to the squad.

Or we could sign some supa dupa 17 year old firing goals in the Ecuador 2nd division for £30 millions who comes in and flops.

Or someone totally unsuited to Benitezs style and be like square pegs in round holes like the last 5 years recruitment

Why do you only deal in extremes? Not everyone has to be a superstar or a kid. There's a world of football players.

They're here now, i will support them but not overly enthused.

Excellent stuff. What would really cap this summer off perfectly is if our pre-season was completely ruined leaving us scrambling around to arrange a friendly against St Helens Town at Finch Farm at a day’s notice.

Rondon is like Townsend and Gray.

Cheap/free bench warmers, earning less than our current back up and generally better suited to our new manager. NONE of them are starters when our team is fit but all can come off the bench and do a better job than those they are replacing,at the same time we will free up about 200k per week in wages for actual good footballers.

Links to Jeremie Boga this morning, 23 year old LM/ LW, at sassuolo in Italy, we have been linked before, I think when silva was here. Don't think it's too likely with Demarai Gray coming in, unless Richarlison is going. Sassuolo have recently turned down a bid of £15.5m from Atalanta, so they may be using our name to get the fee up a bit.
