Everton Summer transfers 2021

Leicester are a rarity.

For most of us, that is a pipe dream. Chelsea, Utd , City and Liverpool can out spend us massively. They can also attract a better standard of player.

Everton, Villa and Leeds are in almost impossible situations. Big clubs, but not Elite. A good season and they get within grasping distance. A bad season and it’s a relegation scrap. Too big for the bottom half, but not enough resources to compete.

Th minute one of those teams gets a good player, they are courted by the top four and CL teams. Lukaku, Arteta, Rooney and Grealish have all moved on. We are destined never to build stable teams.
There are only 4 Champions League spots, it is very competitive to get them and players want to play in the Champions League. It is up to the Evertons and Villas of the league to build a team and squad to break into that group. There are lots of players that can be attracted to our clubs, it is down to management as to how they work out. You guys attracted Carlo, James, Allan, Richy etc. The PL is the best league in the world and players want to be in the PL. The top 4 can't buy all the players, there is lots of talent left for us to buy. It is up to our clubs to buy the right players and we have been absolutely awful at it for the last 10 years. We simply don't deserve to be at the top table with some of the crap players and managers we employed. We need sustained building of our squads and that is very difficult when owners chop and change managers and DOFs and have no long term strategy. It is all about instant success and that will not happen overnight.

When was the last time someone outside the ‘big six’ got the champions league? And how many times have clubs done this in the last 10 years?

Leicester have been well run for years, they won the league in a fluke season then bombed out the year after. The last two seasons when supposedly they are boss haven’t come top four.

Your talking [Poor language removed] if you think if Everton, villa, leicester and West Ham are better run they can all get champions league. Not a hope in hell with FFP in place.
Last two seasons Leicester bottled it with BR and failed to get Champions League, it was there for the taking.

FFP is restrictive but it is not preventative imo. Astute signings, improving the squad each successive and then the top 4 can be reached.

They have sold Maguire and Chilwell for top dollar and replaced them.
Maddison could be going too.

We paid them compo for Steve Walsh !!

Couldn’t make it up.
They sold Mahrez to City as well.

They have accepted that they will sell and build around that model.

We have brought in quite a few older players with not much sell on value. We have changed manager so much that we haven’t got a recognisable strategy and now it is hitting us in the face.

I think Villa have made a better fist of replacing Grealish, but really to challenge the top four they needed to keep him.

Fair enough. We will agree to disagree.

See how you feel when next season you lose Konsa to city, Bailey to Liverpool and Watkins to untied etc. The rebuild starts again and your stumped.

My prayer is that the 4-0, with a full strength squad (minus Kean and DCL) is an alarm bell, that we need to strengthen.

FFP. Means absolutely did all if we’re playing Wycombe Wanderers at home in the second division.

They have three championship defenders in Targett, Cash and Mings. They are miles off champions league.

I don't think it was the motivation, but it's definitely a result of that system. Leicester are the only ones getting close and they've had to get everything perfectly right for consecutive years. Chelsea/ United/ City can get signings badly wrong and then just go again the next season with a couple more big(ger) buys.
When they first set up ffp they were going to include debt. Then soon realised that wouid effect a number of the top clubs.
And dropped that from the rules, surprise surprise.

I think it was Richard scudamore who once said it’s bad for the premier league, that Utd aren’t in the champions league

We had the chance to get top 4 last season during a jarg crap season with no fans.
We should have spent in January and that could easily have been achieved.
But we didn’t.
Then our manager and players wrapped in and couldn’t be arsed.

That chance won’t come along again for us for years.

You lot just had to sell Grealish to City to fund your summer signings essentially otherwise you would have fallen afoul of those regulations
That's not correct. We had to sell Grealish as he had a 100m release clause which he asked to be activated. The Villa CEO stated that Villa offered Grealish a new contract. He was not sold to balance the books, he was sold because he wanted to leave.

The difference is thawhen we have a poor season it’s a relegation scare, change the manager etc.

When one of the top four hav3 a poorvseason , they have to put up with Europa league for a season, then give Their manager £200m to spend.

There is no getting away from th3 fact that Everton have blown their chance with the cash injection. Fortunes wasted and nothing to show for it. Not even a supercharged academy. Every pot is empty.

Not sure about that. If we've learned anything from the last few seasons it is the more we spend, the worse we get.
