Transfer ‘rumours’ roundup for 10th August

PSG are open to selling as many as 10 players, including Senegalese former Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye, 31, in order to complete the signing of the Argentina legend. (Athletic)

Everton are interested in Newcastle United's English midfielder Sean Longstaff, 23. (Athletic)

Everton forward Alex Iwobi is reportedly the subject of interest of Atalanta. According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Blues forward is too far out of the Serie A club’s price range. Aston Villa’s Bertrand Traore and Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino have also been looked at, but Iwobi is also in the frame. Atalanta are thought to be looking for a new forward this summer, with Iwobi placed on a four-player shortlist that are being considered.

Everton have reportedly had a bid rejected for Lazio forward Joaquin Correa. According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Blues have had their offer turned down by the Serie A club because it was below their asking price.

Everton are trying to sell Andre Gomes before making a move to sign Sporting Lisbon ace Matheus Nunes, according to a report from O Jogo (print edition August 9, page15).

According to Tuttosport, via NotizieMilan, James Rodriguez’s agent Jorge Mendes is pushing for the midfielder to leave Everton and sign for AC Milan this summer.

Not even a rumour of a right back ?

Not even a rumour of a right back ?
There was this ‘exclusive’

Everton could reportedly make a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Denzel Dumfries. The Dutch full-back has been with the club since 2018, having joined from Heerenveen, and has gone on to become the club captain.

Liverpool Echo have claimed that Everton are interested in bringing the 25-year-old to the club on a loan deal. PSV Eindhoven reportedly want a fee of around £15 million for the Dutchman.

Now priced at only £15m and we’re sniffing round a loan ?
Wow.
Must be with an obligation to buy then.
( if true like )

Well by reliable accounts we want Dumfries on loan.

PSV are highly unlikely to accept that as they - understandably - want the cash, or most of it, up front.

£15m for a player of his quality is also pretty good going in the current market too, and the fact we can't cobble that together is an absolutely awful reflection on the state of finances at the club and our recruitment team.

Inter, if they are interested, will probably make a move for him soon, though think Bellerin is also on their list.

They have had 3 years to get a right-back and plan ahead to replace Coleman, arguably four since that awful injury he had. We could have sold Kenny in January to Burnley and got his wages off the books for good, even if for a nominal fee.

We're now trying to loan the player we went into the window with as our first-choice RB target (Aarons clearly - and rightly - proved cost-prohibitive) and shift Kenny. It looks like our only other solution right now might be to hope Man Utd loan Dalot out to us. I'm sure another option will come up later in the window, but there's clearly very little planning and a lot of waiting to see how the deck falls.

Properly amateur.

Iwobi out of Atalantas price range? We should be asking them to name their price and just accept it!

I really can’t see us buying anyone not convinced players will move unless it suits them not us and will be happy to sit there and collect their wages. Gomes, Delph, supposedly Atlanta want iwobi could be the only chance of someone moving on. Been waiting years to have funds available and now we have them can’t spend got to laugh or you’d cry ha.

They have worked hard to get where they are Atalanta.
Iwobi going there would be one of the strangest transfers for ages.

He'd probably suit their system and the pace of Serie A, tbf

I hope to God they move him on.

If he stays, I'll be behind him but I just see absolutely nothing to suggest he will ever be better than what he is right now for us. If we can get £15m back, which is doable still, and his £60-70k weekly wage off the books, then it frees us up without us losing anything when it comes to shear numbers of goals/assists or quality chances created.

Whereas if we - like we probably will - move James on, we lose a player who, if played right (and not in a stagnant 4-2-3-1), scores and creates quality chances at a volume none of our other players bar Digne (who is all crossing) come close to.
