Everton Summer transfers 2021

Again WHU signed Coufal for £5.6 million and he was experienced and one of the best fullbacks in the league last season so the notion that we can only afford to sign kids is tosh.

And I dont back the move because it means Coleman stays our first choice RB and he is bang average - tell me what the definition of insanity is? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

So persist with Coleman, Iwobi maybe even Gomes/Davies when we get injuries and dont be moaning and calling for the managers sacking when we finish mid table because these players aint good enough over a 38 game season.
You’re not even bothering to read the posts you’re replying to, are you? I said signing kids was ONE possibility on our budget. IF we have bid for this kid it is because we’ve judged him the most likely to improve us in that position ahead of anyone else available for that amount.

You’ve named one player who was that cheap and turned out to be good, and bang on about it as if every club should just do the same thing. If it was that easy why do City spend £50m on a full-back every year? Why did United spend a ton on AWB? Southampton spent at least double the fee we’re proposing on a bang average lad from Spurs.

A replacement , is not the same as “ coming straight in

But that is what we need otherwise we have an over the hill Coleman still our first choice RB!

It makes zero sense - this was a signing that would have made sense 2-3 seasons ago as an understudy to Coleman not now when we need an instant replacement even if its a loan with an option to buy or whatever.

If it took eg £10m (8+ add-ons) + sell-on % + a straight loan (no option) on Branthwaite or Gordon to get Patterson what would we think? This is just a guess from a Rangers fan on Twitter of what they might consider so wondered how we would see it.
I just asked myself a similar question. Luckily, this time, without Belgian beer in my system.....

If, for example we paid 5m plus Kenny. How would it work for p&s? Can we show Kenny as a 5m "profit" on our P&L? Or, who, if anyone, decides his or other players "value" if included in a deal...?

Regardless of what our options are It doesn't make sense because it means Seamus Coleman stays our first choice RB for at minimum another 12 months possibly longer.

You are excited for signing a player for the sake of the potential for the future - thats all well and good but we need an instant impact player in said position now!!

Dumfries left for €15m the chance had gone to get a better player than Coleman with that soft of money.

I doubt it would happen because of the (albeit brief) Celtic connection with Kenny. JJK has no value in our books so any profit would depend on the value we assign to him as part of the deal. If we were being honest it’d be £0 but if we wanted to be dodgy swines in the mould of Juve and Barca we’d say Rangers paid us £20m (which would be straight profit) for JJK and we paid £25m for their boy (only £5m of which hits our P&L in year 1 assuming a 5yr deal) and we bank ourselves a cheeky £15m profit.

Never gonna happen like, just felt like being a bad nerd for a minute, there.

I have never seen this Patterson play but I also think he must be a good player, as I understand it Rangers have already turned down an offer of 5M offer from us, so they must rate him because 5M is a lot of money to them.

We could get a loan in with an obligation/option to buy - clubs in Europe who are desperate to get numbers off the books wouldn't be turning down a loan fee with a £20 million+ option to buy next summer.

Spurs just done something similiar for that CB they signed from Italy & WHU did it with Behrama last summer then signed him in January IIRC.

Foreverblert92 tells everyone get behind the manager he'll get us sorted playing like a team with comitted players not lazy has beens littering the bench.
Get rid of them get younger fitter players on less wages in.
BACK YOUR MANAGER.

Said manager finds a young well thought of player that he fancies and obviously rates and for a bargain price.
Said poster doesnt like what said manager is about to do.

Make your bloody mind up.

Doesn’t mean any such thing. One more time:

IF we have decided to pay £5m for this lad it means that, of everyone available to us within our price range, we’ve deemed him the most likely to improve our first XI. Does that mean he’s guaranteed to start the first game he’s available for? No, but he might. Will he be guaranteed to start before Chrimbo? No, but he might. Will he get a sniff before next season? Maybe.

Point is, as someone far more knowledgeable than me has already pointed out, we’ve spent vast sums on players who should, in theory, have been ready to go on day one and they’ve been super garbage. We have literally no choice by now than to seek bargains and hope for exceptional value for money. If this guy represents our best chance of that then I’m excited irrespective of his age or where he comes from.

Appreciate your temporary nerdiness.

So, there are basically no controls on the valuation of players in such a situation. Whether Kenny or Gordon or whoever. It could give us good wiggle room in the financial department, which seems needed.
Maybe iwobi fancies being an SPL Superstar?

8 days till the window shuts with a net spend of £900k like, don’t expect anything really.
