Everton Summer transfers 2021

I think it is
Him and his team could cost 80/100 mill in salaries. Moshiri will want something back on that. And I don’t think you get that buying under 23’s unless They’re some of the best in the world.

The 2 issues there are, 1 they will cost fortunes and 2, unlikely to join us, when they have bigger fish after them.

I can see this season ancelotti wanting at least 2 who are ready to walk into this team. Maybe not 30yr olds this summer like James & Allan. Unless on a free maybe.

But I can see then around the 25 to 28 age bracket

Do you not think that hes brought in Ancelotti to improve:

A: The club profile
B: Build the squad to be consistent top 4 in the next few seasons
C: Improve the overall quality of players

We have DCL alone who now looks like a top player and whose valuation increase would cover any salaries.

I think we may go for one player classed as 'experienced' such as a Ramos to bring leadership and aid Godfreys development + improve the squad mentality.

The rest though we must go for younger players unless others are heavily discounted.

It'll take some time but I know you like Emerson who I'd definitely prefer.

Edit: It didn't even take that long actually. The Celik guy from Lille and Maehle would both be better options. Shame Atalanta got on Maehle first.

Maehle is a hard no from me.

Celik is also a hard pass.

Emerson looks quality but on the other hand Aarons of course has played with Godfrey before, is English and has experience in the premier league.

I put a list here of right backs some time ago...really there arent many worth signing.

Aarons + Vasquez improves our squad massively. Emerson + Vasquez does too.

But we need a rotation option for either Aarons or Emerson and a free experienced player makes sense to me.

But young players are gambles that can work straight away or maybe take a coupe of seasons to get right. And good ones are very expensive.

I think we will get a couple of Godfrey types, but also Doucoure’s age group. We will see

I think any manager Moshiri hires, he’s hoping he can challenge the top 4.

But ultimately he’s hired ancelotti because he’s a great manager.

Celik is pretty average so maybe not the right option but he'd be a lot cheaper so I could live with it. Maehle is good.

Aarons is a ton of money for a guy who might be straight up bad at this level. He's played with Godfrey in the worst defense in the league. I don't know that I like that.

Hopefully they won't be in Doucoure's ability group then.

We need to stop pretending we're a year away every summer.

I never said we were a year away
Signing 27 year old "finished products" suggests we think we are. Signing 29 year olds who can barely stay healthy doesn't even suggest it, it throws it in your face.

I didn't mean you I meant the club. The club consistently pretends one good window will fix all the problems and signs players accordingly. As much as I don't rate Aarons at least he's got room to grow.

27 year olds could still play for 5 seasons. I’m not saying sign all older players, like I wouldn’t want us to sign all youngsters. It’s get the right mix

The issue is more that the number of 27 year olds that are at the level we're trying to reach that we can also get to come here is almost 0. It can happen, but it hasn't happened for us in quite a while to the point I'd stop trying.

But you have the same problem buying young players, unless you get top quality. Abs they cost big money and are unlikely to come.

Also it becomes a long project and then what’s the point on hiring ancelotti

It is a long project.

Young players can get better too. That's part of what we need to start doing more often. DCL's need to be a regular thing.

Whats the relevance?

Really my point was that him playing with Godfrey before is irrelevant.

I dont even know how to respond to this...

At the very least they were team mates and have trained together. If hes anything like Godfreys level and potential hes worth £35mil easily.

I prefer Emerson but Aarons looks like a safer bet

The guy who has never played well in a top flight league is a safer bet than the guy who has?

And the way to respond is "yes it doesn't mattered that they played together before just like it doesn't matter that James has played with Lucas Vazquez before." Because it doesn't. Sign the player based on that individual player.
